Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 371

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet? 

 

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.

Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.

 Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last week.

 

I slide myself under the carriage. It wasn't a good idea, the space was restricted and they could surround me any minute if they were to notice me. And that's what they did. I could see only feet all around the carriage. The Jägers didn't seem to want to let their prey to the care of the hunters.

 

"You hurt him," one of them said.

 

"Well it's difficult to catch a beast of that size without a little bit of blood spitting," the hunter said, "It fought quite a bit."

 

"I told you I wanted it in perfect state," the Jäger said. "This one is almost dead."

 

"He isn't dead, he is just knocked out," the hunter said.

 

Four people moved to the end of the carriage and it lifted above my head when they removed the body of the wolf. It was definitely a wolf and it was definitely bigger than the normal wolf running in the region and it smelled like Alexej.

Thursday Fiction 358: Parallel Slip 2: Rebel

Welcome back to a new Thursday Fiction, it's been a while. We continue with Parallel Slip 2: Rebel where we left of last time back in July, following Isabelle as she figure out who she really is.

Mike disappeared in his car and her mother turned to her, preparing herself to say something.

“Go wash yourself. This kind of make up might be appropriate for people your age outside but it sure isn't here,” she said. “Most of your ugly lipstick is gone with the food and you look ridiculous.”

She then walked away which was rather unexpected. Malik smiled and shrugged before following her.

No lecture tonight. Isabelle wondered what had finally made her mother forget about her. Was it the lipstick? Or was it Mike? Or even a bit of both? She wasn't sure but still she welcomed the opportunity as much as she was sure that her mother would probably get on her case in the morning, especially for not answering properly to Mike.

Isabelle rushed to her room and closed the door behind her. She passed back and forth, wondering how to read the message from Romulus without anyone interfering. The best would be to go to the toilet, it was the only room with a lock but that wasn't very romantic. She finally put her back on her door and slide the paper out of her pocket. Her hands were shaking when she opened it.

Wednesday Snippet 360: Fairy World

Welcome back to Wednesday Snippet. Until know, we were following our heroes in Blue Angel. This time, we go back with Fairy World which is set in the Fairy World, obviously, just at the end of Blue Angel, as you can see, the story starts seconds after the end of Blue Angel. 

 

Kelpie was back in a second, in his human shape, floating on his back and that was the end of it. There was no magic left in his world and she was gone, she was taken away just before it all disappeared. Kelpie looked at the sky and sight. Even in the middle of the day, people in the Fairy world were able to see the stars but now, the sky was empty, just like his grandfather had wished it all along. The world as he knew it was over.

"What happened?" Sahel asked entering the water.

Couldn't he feel it? He was magical too. Kelpie had always thought that he would have everything forever but now that he couldn't shift anymore, would he be able to call himself a Kelpie? Or maybe he was just... no... he couldn't be just a human.

"What happened?" Sahel repeated and Kelpie stood up in front of him. The proximity of him making him unable to float in the river. His clothes didn't break, his body hadn't changed an inch. They were wet and sticking to his skin.

"It's over, magick is gone," Kelpie stated making everything just more real as the words escaped from his lips.

Tuesday Travel 156: Witch Raising: The Book of Earth 3

Welcome to Tuesday Travel. This week we are following Brownie on her journey as she is going toward the second element: Earth.

About Witch Raising.

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches. 

 

The excerpt, we start right where we left off last week.

She was reading one of her books about magic. She wanted to know what she had to do to get rid of her little problem of back firing spells before they actually hit her bad. But so far, she hadn't find anything.

Someone pushed the door to her cabin and entered.

“I can stay here, right? Those sits are not taken, right?” The girl asked putting down her large suit case.

The train had been running for half a day without stop and Brownie wondered where this girl was coming from. She was wearing a hat with very large rim that would cover her shoulders from the sun too if she were outside. She had very orange hair coming out from underneath in an untidy fashion. She wore sun glasses that covered most of her face only living space to see a very white skin almost translucent and tons of freckles.
