Tantalizing Tuesday 5: Witch Raising: The book of Fire

Hi guys and welcome to a new  Tantalizing Tuesday and you can find the list of participants here.

This time I'm sharing a randomly picked paragraph of Witch Raising: The book of Fire. Witch Raising is the last draft I have been working on and it turns out that it'll be a side series of the Demon series instead of just one book part of it.

Brownie wondered how many time she had been in a train or trains from coast to coast.
“Basically that's what most tourist take, you know, lot of places to see that you never though about before meeting someone in the previous city, stuff like that,” the lady said.
If that meant she could take whatever train on the way even if she missed one, that was way better than running half awake at 1.32 in the morning. She could have chosen Samircity but still something made her decide to go to Evergreen Stop.
“Alright then, I guess that's one open ticket to Evergreen Stop,” Brownie said.
The lady smiled, asked for money and printed her ticket. It was a really simple ticket with places for at least 15 stamps it came with a list of train that could be taken and a list of forbidden train, a limit date and a map of the railway. She was going to cross the entire country west to Evergreen Stop which was the closest city to Evergreen but wasn't part of it.
“I need to copy your passport,” the lady said. “Just to make it case Evergreen authority ask about you when you cross the border, they seldom do, but it can happen.”
Brownie gave her her passport. It was weird because technically her ticket didn't even have her cross the border. Maybe everyone going to Evergreen Stop never stopped there but always continued to Evergreen. That was a funny thought since the place was called Evergreen Stop. The lady came back with her passport and asked her to sign the copy as a prove of identity to make sure the signature was the same. She gave her the ticket, her change and her passport back and that was it. The next train was leaving in less than fifteen minutes and the lady pointed vaguely toward the dock and wished her a good trip.

"And… I want my teddy," Ayokunle said crying again.
"Yobi, where did you hide Ayo's teddy?" Mikala asked softly.
"I like it a lot. I want to keep it," Yobi answered pouting. Feeling safe in Mikala's arms he had instantaneously stopped crying.
"What about we go into town after getting you some milk and get you a teddy too? It would be all yours."

Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 163

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet?Sign up to be part of our awesome Vampire Friday blog hop team! You know you want to!

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.
Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle.

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left of last week

“What are you do…” he started turning his head to look at me but I didn’t leave him the time to finish his sentence, I turned his head tilting it on his left side and dive my fangs inside of his carotid. The blood instantaneously started to fill my mouth and the taste of it was good and matching the last emotions of the man. His hands were still grabbing tightly the lady’s legs, she looked had me silent with an open mouth before trying to go away. I took his hands away to let her go. She huddled up in a corner of the bed pulling the cover to her mouth to reassure herself more than to be covered with without taking her eyes of me. I continued sucking his blood until there was nothing left and let him fall slowly on the ground.
“What do you want from me?” she said.
“Nice to see you again,” I said walking around in the room.
I blow out a candle. The fire was fascinating me, I played with the flam of another one a bit before blowing it too.
“What do you want from me?” she repeated hysterically. I could smell her delicious fear pumping in her veins with each beating of her blood. Her eyes seemed a lot to big for her face, she was widening them so much that I could see the white part of them all around her dark pupil.
I blew another candle.
“I came to say goodbye of course and to give you a little present,” I said pointing at the body.
“You see, I’m leaving tonight for France and I will take a boat for London.”
I said slowly to make sure that she was going to remember the information. I had no doubt that the next group of vampire tracing me was going to visit her. Which them, if they were to find her in the same position I had found her, she might not be as lucky. I blew another candle.
“Go to hell, monster,” she said and she signed herself and spit.
I was always amazed how humans were calling god when they were in need but near remembering him when doing everything he had been forbidding them to do. I came across the family picture again.

Thursday Fiction 157: Parallel Slip

Welcome back to a new part of Parallel Slip, where we follow the adventures of Frederique through her slip in different parallel universes.

Let's start right where we left off last week.

"Here is your ice," the nurse said smiling.
The corner of her mouth dropped a little when seeing me.
"Are you alright?"
She followed my gaze toward my mother who was still talking to someone in the corridor.
"That's the woman who...
"That's my mother and I don't think I want to see her right now," I said.
I was trembling like a leaf in autumn, ready to fall to the ground before winter arrived.
"All right, just lie down for the moment and try to calm down. Nothing is going to happen to you, you are safe here. I'll be right back."
I couldn't take my eyes of her as I lay down on the white paper sheet covered bench. I was terrified or my other self was terrified. I saw the nurse talked to the doctor who took a look at me from far away before pulling the white cotton curtain between me and the door. I couldn't see anything anymore so I tried to listen. It was the first time something like that happened to me. I couldn't understand what was going on in my other self body. I was shaking and my chest hurt as if my heart was about to stop and it all started when I saw my mother. Then I remembered the fire. I was afraid but I wasn't shaking, I was looking for an answer and when I was out, she hadn't been happy to see me, she had slapped me, why? Why would she do that?
"I'm taking you to a room upstairs, can you walk?" The nurse said.
