It has been a long time since I posted about my work. For the past year I have been working in Japan on a brand new project. I am now studying the ionization of molecules (H2+) in electric field. My worked involves a lot of programming and theory to be developed so getting results took a little bit of time. My first publication for this new work is now available. It's a CLF annual report paper of four pages. I expect to get something more consequent published in a journal within the next few months.

2 weeks in Taiwan : Chiang Kai Shek and Liberty Square

On my first day in Taiwan we went to visit Chiang Kai Shek memorial. The memorial is in Liberty Square with the national concert hall and the national theater. In 1945, Chiang Kai Shek engaged in a civil war against the Chinese his government was forced to retreat to Taiwan. His government however maintain the will to take back main land China. At the memorial, we saw the change of guards. That's a rather long and complicated process in which the guard perform a kind of choreography with their carbine.

Sakura week-end

This week-end was mostly about Sakura. We were supposed to go to 新宿御苑 on Saturday but as it was raining, and international students are supposedly made of sugar (so sweet but melting with the rain) they decided to cancel. So as I was at the meeting point already me and one courageous friend decided to walk to 深大寺 to see Sakura anyway. But we actually stopped at the river on the way and then as we crossed it in the middle without taking the bridge, we got a little wet and decided to walk back.
Then today as it was sunny we finally went to 新宿御苑 for our picnic. It was highly crowed but hopefully we arrived early enough to find a place to sit and eat under the Sakura trees.
新宿御苑 has a lot of different kind of Sakuras with different colors so we took a walk to see them and the ponds in the park.

2 weeks in Taiwan : Introduction, arrival

On the 20th of March I left for Taiwan without too much preparation. All I really knew was that I was going to stay with one friend and possibly meet with some other during the 2 weeks of my stay there. I didn't do any preparation so I didn't know what to see. I kind of left so suddenly that I even forgot my toothbrush and at to get a new one when I arrived.
I arrived in the early afternoon and went for coffee with my friend before going to her place. After not seeing each other for 2 years we had a lot of time to catch up.
