Taika

Taika yawned and fumbled on her night table to get her magic wand. She shook it and the time appeared in blue numbers on the ceiling. She still had four hours to sleep. She shook off the numbers and turned around in her bed. She had been having strange dreams again about a boy, always the same. She placed the wand to her mouth like a microphone and started to speak.

"He is really good at magic, no forget that, what was the dream about?" She posed and saw the face of the boy in front of her eyes again.
"His name is... his name is... I forgot it again. I try to remember but I always forgot that. So we were at school and when we entered the room he was already there, sitting at the ghost table. Why would anyone sit at the ghost table, that's kind of rude but the ghost didn't seem to mind he was just flying around saying that he could finally graduate. Whatever that means. I didn't know ghosts could graduate, leave alone in the middle of the year. And the ghost said thank you to the boy and left. Really! I still wonder how that happened but as it is a dream it might be normal. Oh yeah and he had a particularly shining light blue Ora, I had never seen one like that before. I wonder why he is always in my dream, I never met him, the school has been increasingly boring lately, all the boys there seems to think about is how to make the bigger mess possible in botanic class, just because we have a replacement teacher." she sighed. "But that's not part of the dream. I better go back to sleep anyway, I'm forgetting it again."

She blew on her wand to extinguish it and put it back on the table. She heard some noises coming from under the bed. She might have waken her slippers up. They too seemed to have trouble to sleep. She yawned and turned on the other side, she didn't want to take them for a walk just now, it was too early. The slippers came out and started jumping.
"It's three am, go back to bed", Taika said softly.
The slippers disappeared. It seemed that they were talking to each other but Taika was too tired to eave drop on the conversation. She was thinking about the boy. She wanted to meet him. She had been looking at the past yearbooks of the school during her free time without success, there was no one like him. Maybe she should resolve to tell her brother about it, he would love to resolve the mystery. She turned around again trying to concentrate on his face. It was starting to fade slowly as she fell asleep again.

Sahel

Sahel was sitting in the middle of the room. There was nothing there, the teacher had prepared it just for him. The walls and the ceiling were completely white, the floor was also white but there were really thin read lines shaping a grid on it. Sahel was supposed to create a map in his mind. The map of his body as he transformed to define better his own perceptions. Being the phoenix was easy for him, when he transformed he was just becoming something else. At first he had thought it was normal. He was a demon and he was used to be different from everyone else around him so being a shape shifter wasn't something that he was prepared for but it wasn't as well something that he would be afraid of. He could always turn back to himself when he needed it.

But the teacher had made him see things differently. If he wasn't himself anymore when he turned into the phoenix, there was no way for him to decide what he was doing with his powers. He had tried to explain that it wasn't really like that, that he was changing slowly and his purpose melted with the purposes of the bird but the teacher had repeated it again and again: What if the purpose of the bird happened to be different? Sahel knew that the bird wouldn't do anything he didn't want him to do, the bird was still him but in the end he had started to doubt himself and that's how he finally ended up spending most of his time in an empty room.

He didn't close his eyes, he wanted to, he found it easier to concentrate but the teacher had said that when he was to change again, he wouldn't have closed eyes and it was true. Instead he was fixing an imaginary point somewhere near the middle of the room. He started to feel like a stone, his body became heavy and it was harder and harder not to close his eyes. He visualized his body floating in mid-air where the imaginary point was, it was strangely lying there without moving. He concentrated on his hand, that was always where the fire was going out, always where the transformation started. He tried to hold the fire as much as he could in the hands of his vision but the fire suddenly came out.
Sahel felt backward looking at his hand. The fire was leaking out from them. He heard three knocks on the door and the teacher entered.
"I failed again", he said.
"I never said it was going to be easy", the teacher answered, "What went wrong this time?"
"Always the same, when the fire comes strong, I always think about Yue", Sahel answered.
"That's enough for today", the teacher answered.
"I want to try one more time", Sahel answered.
The teacher laugh, his student always lost tracks of time when he entered this room.
"Just go home for now", he said placing an apple on the ground in the middle of the room.
"What is that for?" Sahel asked.
"You are not the only one using his room", the teacher said.
Azazel entered looking around.
"What is this place?"
"Hell", Sahel answered standing up to leave.

Raphael

"Stop walking so fast", Ethan said looking passably annoyed.
He was carrying a large carton box and had trouble seeing what was in front of him.
"I'm not walking fast, you're the one being slow and we are going to be late", Raphael said walking even faster.
"We have more than one hour before the start and it will takes only five minutes to prepare", Ethan said taking a deep breath.
As much as he liked his brother and enjoyed working with him Raphael's constant nervousness and hurriedness tended to be contagious and to make him feel nervous as well.
"You don't know that, what is something happened?" Raphael asked.

The event was not really that important, all they had to do was to carry the boxes, and those were the last, to the stadium, other people were already preparing everything there. What Ethan said was going to take them five minutes to do was to test if all the lamps were set up correctly and enlightening the right spots, so they just had to turn them on and say it was alright and go sit with everyone else.
"Nothing ever happens", Ethan said, "But why don't you go on ahead, I want to buy myself a drink anyway."
He stopped in front of the store waiting for his brother's answer.
Raphael was comically dancing from one feet to the other, he seemed tugged between wanting a drink too or finishing what he was doing.
"Come on, do you want a drink or not?" Ethan asked looking at him, he wondered how anyone could survive with that level of stress for only little matter such as getting a drink.
"I'll come back to get one later, we need to bring those boxes quickly", Raphael answered started to walk away.
"As you wish", Ethan said. He pushed the door of the convenience store.
Raphael turned around noticing that Ethan was not following him. He was so nervous, he wanted everything to be perfect today. He didn't really know why but it had to be. He started to walk as fast as he could with his boxes leaving Ethan behind. He couldn't understand how most people could be so careless and never put a silly little effort for everything to be done properly. He was feeling so stressed by other people's behavior.
When he arrived at the stadium, nobody was there yet. He left his box on the side and walked around looking for everyone. He started to fix things other people were responsible for by himself bitting his nails. It was incredible how careless they could be. He had to do everything if he wanted it to be perfect. It needed to be perfect, if it wasn't perfect it was wrong, and wrong was bad, he couldn't let that happen, he couldn't...

Raphael woke up in sweat realizing that he had been biting his nails in his sleep. He looked at the alarm o'clock, it marked three in the morning. He took the glass of water on the bedside table and drunk a little. His heart was beating fast in his chest. He regretted to have accepted to participate to the event the next day, he couldn't rely on those people. He took the notebook his mother had prepared for him. She had written little stories and added quotes from her reading to help him calm down. He read a little before going back to sleep.

Pyrrhus

"Look at that!" Deborah exclaimed looking down.
Pyrrhus walked to the side of the balloon. He had been flying for as long as he could remember but he wasn't yet used to the high. His mother didn't mind, she could climb the ladder to go check that everything was alright on the sail without even attaching herself. His father always needed to remind her and she would just wash off the anxious look on his face with a smile. She was pushing herself so much out of the balloon to see the ground below them that Pyrrhus wouldn't have been amazed to see her fall with the next squall of wind.
He passed the cord in her belt and attached her as firmly as he could. She was just laughing in the wind.
Birds were passing by and Pyrrhus had the strange thought that his mum was just like a bird.
He stood near her and looked at the ground, water, water everywhere.
He wondered how it was possible to have so much water in the same place. People called it the Northern Sea. It was were the desert ended. It was the first time for him to get out of the desert.
"Can we land?" He asked.
He wanted to touch that water to see what it was like. His mother laughed.
"We can't land now, we are in the middle of the sea, the balloon would drown", she answered.
"Drown?" Pyrrhus said interrogating.
"The balloon would get inside the water, very deeply and we wouldn't be able to get it out, that's what drown means", his mother explained.
"Like being sucked in by the sand near the oasis", Pyrrhus said.
"Yes, a bit like that", she answered.
Pyrrhus looked down at the water, it was moving by itself as if it was alive, it wasn't because of the wind, it was something else.
"I like the desert better", he said very seriously.
"They are thousands of different place to discover", his mum said passing a hand in her long ginger hair to take them away from her face before giving up to the wind, "maybe you should learn a little more about them before making your choice."
Pyrrhs didn't answer. He wanted to walk back in and try to sleep but he was thinking about what his mother had just said and looked at the deep ocean below him. He didn't know where they were going but he knew that he would never be able to walk on the watter without drowning. It was a really strange place indeed.
A fish jumped out of the water surprising him and he felt backward, making his mother laugh.
"Are they people living in the water?" he asked.
He had entered the water one in an oasis but he couldn't stay underneath for too long. His father had said that people needed to breathe. Before that, Pyrrhus had never thought about breathing, for him it was just something that his body was doing.
"There are all sort of things living in the sea", his mother answered.
Pyrrhus' mind was suddenly filled with questions about the sea. I wasn't just water, it was becoming slowly strange and marvelous and mysterious.
"When are we going back to the desert?" he asked.
"When we will hear that it is safe again", his mother answered. A veil of fear clouded her face and Pyrrhus knew that it was better to change topic.
"I'll prepare for breakfast", he said turning around.

Odeon

Odeon was walking in the snow. He liked the sound of it under his feet. He was trying to walk in his father's tracks but his father was taking so huge steps that it was difficult for him. He was half jumping already and walking on the edge, also trying not to lose his balance.
His father stopped in a glare.
"What will I learn today?" Odeon asked
"Prophecy", his father answered.
That was new, they had been hunting and fighting and capturing animals since last summer.
"Why?" Odeon asked.
"Because you are supposed to know that too", his father said.
"You mean the other one in me", Odeon answered.
"I'm not sure how is really works, I only know that because you are who you are, they will be coming after you and your brother. Some say that it's better if you don't know anything but I believe that if you know exactly who you are you will be able to use it against them", his father answered.
"I'm scared", Odeon answered.
"There is nothing to be afraid of, this is just training", his father said smiling.
Odeon didn't answer what he really wanted was to be done with it but looking at the future didn't sound like fun anymore. What if he was to see something bad happening and was unable to change it?
His dad sat in the snow and Odeon sat in front of him copying every movement.
"You need to empty you mind, to think about nothing at all", his dad said. "It is called meditation, then when your mind is empty, the future and the past will come to you, all at the same time, and you will know something deeply inside of you. That's all. Now close your eyes."
Odeon did as he was told, he closed his eyes but he started to think about things about as many things as he could. He didn't want to know the future, he didn't want to see them coming for him as his father had said they would so he refused to empty his mind. He was getting cold, the snow had started to fall again and his wings felt frozen in his back. He wasn't allowed to move them to warm them up or get rid of the snow on them. He had learned to be immobile a long time ago when they had been hunting. It was easier to capture your prey if you were immobile.
His father finally stood up and Odeon followed him.
"What did you see?" His father asked.
Odeon looked down.
"Nothing", he answered.
He was feeling half ashamed for disobeying and half happy for managing not to see anything.
"It's alright", his father said rushing his hair. "We'll try tomorrow again."

Odeon is a character of "Demon World".

Nkosana

Sibyl was praying again. The sun was high in the sky and she knew that she would soon have to go home and make food for the men. She took her pot of milk and placed it on her head holding it only with one hand. She knew she wasn't thinking straight, she was too absorb in her prayers but she couldn't take the risk of spitting the milk on the ground and being beaten for it by her husband. So she was holding it carefully. The church was in the center of the village, she had been putting light every day now. It was expensive and the god of the white men refused to answer her prayers. If she didn't get pregnant, her husband would take another wife. She was laughed at in the village, she couldn't give him a son.

It was afternoon and Sibyl was alone again. It would soon be time to go taint the clothes with the other women but first she had decided to do a ritual. The ritual had been banned by the white man, they call it witchcraft and it was prohibited because it was making their god angry. She didn't mind making him angry he had never talked to her anyway. Her mother had taught her the secret of her ancestor before she dies, she had tell her to talk to the trees, the trees had been here a long time, longer than any men the trees knew a lot of things and they would talk to you when you really listened. Sibyl didn't listen for a long time. She had tried to listen in the church but she didn't understand the words of the white men so she was always thinking about something else. She had listened to the trees when she was a little girl and now she would listen again. She prepared her colors and walked to the forest. She stopped under the biggest baobab and poured some milk on the ground. It was good to feed the trees it was making the forest happy. She turned around the tree caressing his trunk with the tip of her finger, asking for a baby boy.

The following day she came again, earlier and earlier she came to offer her milk and wishes to the tree. One day the tree bent and gave her a seed. It was brown, as dark as her own skin. She went home and planted the seed in a little pot. She was taking good care of the seed, giving it milk and honey. Her husband became angry and menaced to throw away the seed so she took it back to the tree and continued to care for it.
After few months the seed was growing into a little plant with the shape of an infant. Sibyl was really happy, every day she would spend more and more time near the tree and telling stories to the seed about life, about how it was before the white men arrived, about how it was before she was married, about the secrets of the trees, like her mother had taught her. But once again she was late to care for the house and late in her cores and her husband beat her. She went back to the forest the following day and he walked furtively after her. He wondered who she had been seeing in his back. She stopped under the tree. A little boy was standing there where the seed had been. She picked him up laughing.
"I will call you Nkosana for you are the prince of the baobab tree."

Morgan

Morgan was running bare feet in the forest. She needed to act fast, there was no time to lose.
She caught herself as she stumbled upon the open roots. It was her forest, she knew it better than anyone, she had been running here like that everyday for as long as she could remember but today was different, today she was escaping and they were after her. The urgency of the escape was making her nervous. She knew that fearing them would only make things worse but she couldn't help herself.

She arrived at the glare, Cameron was waiting for her, she had told him to go first that it was too dangerous that they would kill him if they found him but he didn't listen to her. She had a bad feeling in her heart. As she reached for him, as he smile at her, she heard the sound of the string clacking in the air. All happened too fast, his smile suddenly changed into a grin as the arrow pierced his chest. He felt on his knees. Morgan ran faster and grabbed him before he hit the ground.
"No, no, no", was all she could say.
She wasn't even trying to find her breath back.
"No, no, no", she yelled.
They were coming closer to her. Cameron was dead, gone forever, for her sin, she had nothing left to lose. She took the ring out of his finger and out of hers and threw them both in the lake nearby.
They were still coming closer. She took a deep breathe and started to sing. Her wings were slowly becoming darker. Her blond hair turned suddenly black, her eyes lost their color.
They stopped bemused. She kept on singing. One of they armed his bow, pulling on the cord. She could hear the breathe, she could hear the string, the awful sound which had precessed Cameron's death. The arrow flew to her, then stopped in mid air and turned around toward the bowman. It flew, faster, and hit. The bowman felt. They tried shooting at her again, but they all felt, their blood on the forest ground nourishing her power. She pushed them away, the trees grew thicker around the lake, around the glare, around the fairy tree, around her and Cameron. They were all come.
"I should have done it earlier, I'm sorry", she said holding Cameron face.
He was smiling again in his death.
"I can't let you die", she said and she stood up carrying him.
"I can't let you", she carried him to the lake, it was only few meters away but it seemed so far. Cameron was so heavy now that dead had passed through him. She let herself fall in the lake with him. They left deeper and deeper. The water was turning black around them. Cameron body was becoming lighter and lighter, she had to pull on him for him not to go back to the surface. When she hit the bottom of the lake the rings were shining in the dark water. She picked them up and found a large stone.
"Spirit of the lake I seal this love, keep it's spirit in your water.
Spirit of the lake I seal those ring, keep their love in your water."
The rings seemed to be entering the stone, she pulled Cameron to her and pressed his hand on the stone.
"Spirit of the lake I offer you this man, keep him alive in your water."
Cameron's body was shaken by spasms, he started to tremble, opened his eyes and tried to get some air but he only found the dark water. He was panicking. Morgan started to sing again to calm him down before they swam back to the surface. She went out of the lake alone, Cameron was still swimming near the surface looking at her.
"I'm sorry my love, this is the best I can do", she said. "I can't keep you alive in the air, you have to stay in
the water."
She sat on the floor near him and swept.

Luna

Luna was sitting under the fairy tree meditating. Peter and Atreju knew that when she was in that state it was better to leave her alone but she hadn't moved for about two hours and they were starting to be hungry.
Peter pulled on Atreju's sleeve to make him come with him. They left Luna alone under the tree. It was not a tree like others, it had a very large trunk with a hole in the middle. Luna was still too small to reach it but that's where she had the boys felt her message for the Fairy World.

She still remembered the first time she had ever seen a fairy. At times it seemed that she had always been able to see them but she knew that there had been a first time. She was crying alone under the tree. She had been bullied at school again for being weird. She didn't know what was so weird about herself. She felt that she was rather banal, just like any other kids but they had decided that she wasn't. They had decided that there was something wrong about her and that they would teacher her how to be the right way. Some times it was about her hair if she had decided to attach them in a different manner or not at all. Sometimes it was her clothes, she wasn't wearing anything properly. Even when she had the same clothes than another girl it wasn't good, she shouldn't have copied. She didn't even copy anyone it was just an accident. Sometimes it was because she was bright and had the right answer to questions no one else could understand. Sometimes it was because she wanted to read during the break, she didn't have anyone to play with anyway. No matter how hard she tried to be accepted, no matter how "normal" she tried to look like, there was no way to please them.

So after school she had been crying again and she didn't even want to come home. At home every body would say that it was ok that the other kids were just stupid. But it wasn't ok. Even though they were all stupid, she wanted them to stop, she wanted to play with someone, she wanted to be "normal". That day she sat under the tree and cried until she felt asleep of exhaustion. Crying so much was tiring.
She was awaken by a strange crystalline noise. It was moving around near her head, tickling her ears. She opened her eyes and scratched her ear to remove the strange sensation.
"Bouh", the little creature said.
Luna didn't startle, she wasn't the type to get surprised easily.
The little creature put a hand on her hips and started to blow on her fingers. She was standing in the air, just in front of Luna's face.
She started to make some strange noise.
"It's ok, another blind one", Luna managed to understand.
She wondered why she could understand that but it was normal to understand strange things in a dream. She started to extend her hand to touch the creature but she thought she might be rude.
"Hello", she whispered.
The little creature started her complicated movement again.
"Halt everyone, the big one said something"
"I'm not big", Luna answered.
The fairy came closer to her face making signs with her hands in from of Luna's eyes. Luna followed the movement wondering what it could mean.
Then the fairy flew a bit further away.
"Can you really see me?" she asked.
"Yes", Luna answered.
The fairy flew away in the branches of the tree and disappeared behind the leafs. Luna sighed, even in her dreams little people didn't want to play with her.
She stood up and dusted her closes realizing that she wasn't sleeping anymore and that it was getting late.
"Really?" the little creature said appearing in front of her face.
"Yes", Luna said, she was starting to get annoyed. She wondered how she could be awake and see the creature at the same time.
The creature turned around.
"How many wings do I have?"
"About four", Luna said counting on her fingers.
"You're not sure", the creature said.
"You are moving them all the time, if you would keep them still it would be easier."
The little creature flew away again.
Luna took few steps to leave but it appeared in front of her again. Then another one, then another one, they were everywhere around her, pulling on her clothes, pulling on her hair, talking to each other so fast with their strange movement that she couldn't even follow the conversation. Luna was giggling, it was so funny with them. People at school will never believe it but she wouldn't tell them, it would just make her look weirder. she was feeling very happy.
They pushed her toward the tree under the hole. She was too small to reach it so they pushed a book out of it.
"Fairy doctor" was written on the cover.
"So you want me to read this", Luna said.
"You can see us and you are a girl so you are a fairy doctor, we had been looking for you a long time, this belongs to you", the little creature she had first met said.
Luna took the book and stroke the leather cover, if felt familiar in her hand.
"Luna what are you still doing out? It's time for dinner", her brother called her from the house's door.
"Thank you", Luna whispered to the fairies. She grabbed her school back and ran to the house.

Kallisto

The queen of the people of light was checking the stars' prescription while rocking her new born son sleeping in his cradle. She couldn't see anything to prevent the fate of her land. The demons had failed in preventing the god of Chaos to be reborn and it would be here soon but it was unclear when. It seemed to be fading every time she was to know the exact day.
She threw the parchment away looking at the baby fast asleep. He didn't know what was awaiting him yet. A servant came running at the door.
"Your majesty, your majesty, the girl is born, she has green sparkling air, she is perfect", the servant said out of breathe.
"Perfect", the queen thought for herself, maybe that was her opportunity to create a new fate for her world, using this girl, using her son.
"I want her to have a different education", the queen fairy said, she had been thinking about it a long time, changing the fate written in the stars.
"I do not understand", the servant said lowering her head and the top of her body as much as she could looking at the ground to be forgiven for her rudeness.
"Was she placed in the princess palace yet?" The queen said evasively, getting up and walking to the window. The night was dark and without stars as if they were purposely hiding to let her continue defying them.
"No, we are waiting for your majesty", the servant said.
The queen turned around and walked fast toward the door, passing the servant to go to the nursery.
It looked like a garden filled with different kind of flowers, bigger than the normal side and inside of them were eggs. Some were really pink and some were blue, the queen fairy walked toward the lilies from where voices could be heard. Every body seemed to be amazed at the baby girl. She had fair skin and her eyes were already wide open throwing sparkles all around her. People were gathering to be touched and blessed by them. Her green hair was filled of fairy powder.
"Bring me the wish book", the fairy queen said looking at the little girl.
"Your majesty", a servant said.
The fairy queen opened the book and started to go over wishes.
"Those are perfect, send her there", she said pointing at an address in the human world.
"But your majesty, she should be send to the princess palace she is to marry prince Kordelius and..." one of the servant started.
She stopped and bowed as low as she could under the fairy queen's cold eyes.
"It's an order", the fairy queen said turning around to leave.

"Good bye little Kallisto", the servant said letting the baby girl in the garden of a human couple.
"May the stars be with you as they know you are going to need it."
The servant shed some tears and left.

Jason

Jason opened his eyes with the sunlight, he never had problem to wake up in the morning. After all, since the death of his parents he was all alone to take care of his little sister. He jumped out of bed and sat at his desk. It was only five o'clock in the morning but he wanted to finish cleaning the motor pieces before going to visit Clarissa at the hospital. He had always been blaming himself for what happened to her that day, for the death of their parents.
She wanted to play with him and his friends, but she was so small and annoying, he had told them not to give her the ball, thinking that she was going to give up eventually and go cry somewhere letting them have their fun. But Clarissa was so stubborn, she would run after every ball trying to intercept every pass, she had run, more than every one else. Until she had run too much. They had come back home already, they were not running anymore but she had started to fall, unable to breathe, unable to answer to his mum. She was so small suddenly, not so annoying anymore, more like a fragile little thing about to disappear.
At first he had thought that it was a joke, that she was making it up to make him feel sorry for not playing with her. He remembered that she had done it several times before and every time he had just laughed at her for being so weak and she had laughed saying that she was just joking. But now he realized that she hadn't been just joking. She was really in a bad shape. She should have listen to him when he had told her to stop running and to take a rest but she didn't. Of course she didn't want to be alone, girls never wanted to be alone.
Then his parents had taken her to the hospital but they never made it there, they run into an accident. A truck had burned the red light and hit their car. He remembered the phone call.
"Hello, this is hospital Johnasbury."
"Yes", Jason had answered. Were his parents on the way back already and the hospital calling to say that everything was alright with Clarissa?
"Is there an adult in the house? I have an important message." The voice had said.
"I can transmit the message when my parents come back", Jason had said.
He heard the voice breathing on the other end. It wasn't a good sign, his parents had always told him never to say on the phone that he was alone at home. He started to be a little bit scared, he didn't really know why.
"I have the regret to inform you that there has been and accident on road 53 and James and Claire Dreamen have past away." The voice said.
"...", Jason didn't answer.
"...", the person on the other side of the line seemed to be hesitating again, Jason could only hear them breath.
"..."
"They didn't suffer, it happened really fast", the voice said as if trying to comfort him.
"...", Jason was considering the options he had left, how to change that fact, how to make them live, what he could have done differently for the accident not to happen?
"I need an adult to come to the hospital, the doctor needs to talk about your little sister's heart condition", the voice said.
"I don't want you to take away Clarissa's heart", Jason said.
He didn't want anyone to walk around with Clarissa's heart when she was lying dead with his parents leaving him all alone.
"Your little sister needs medicine and care right now, nobody will take her heart, she is alive. Is there anyone I can call to talk about her future?" The voice said.
But Jason was already running out of the house. There was only one thing he knew, they wouldn't allow him to do anything, after all he was only thirteen but he knew who could do something. That's the day when he had started to go to the garage and to clean the pieces instead of going to school.

Isakael

Isakael was flying to the beach trying to contain the fire which was burning his hands. Every time it was the same, they would make a mess in the house, he would fix it. He would get annoyed without wanting to complain to them more than he already did and then his hands would start burning. He would pretend to be too annoyed to stay in the same room, walk to his bedroom, lock the door behind himself trying not to melt it and escape through the window. It didn't remember exactly when the first time was. He just knew that it had been happening for few weeks now, maybe up to two months. Every time he was feeling something intense, he was burning.

He landed on his knees near the water and plunged his hands in it, burying them in the ground. The water started to boil, vapor raising above the surface. It was the only way to stop it. He couldn't control it. He had seen demons controlling fire before, but he was an angel, this wasn't part of his attributions. He could heal others, taking their pain at the same time which he thought was particularly unfair seeing that demons could move around healing others as well as themselves without any retributions. He could move things around without touching them and make people's fear disappear by whispering, even though the latest was still really hard for him and mostly failing. But there was no way he could deal with fire. It was a demon power, an elemental power. He wondered if he was changing. If being around humans and demons for so long had finally caught up with him. For the past few weeks he had been observing is wings, counting the feathers to see if he was losing them more than usual. It didn't seem like it. If he was to turn into a demon, he thought that the most obvious change would be his wings. He had very large white wings, at time they were even giving him backache. Demons' wings where smaller and lighter and feathers deprived. They were also changing colors all the time so that you could almost always know what was on their mind.

Nobody could know what was on his mind, maybe nobody even cared. He really hated being an angel. He had to be nice and helpful all the time because that's what others expected from him. If he wasn't he had reflection like "I didn't know angels could be so mean", "Are you really an angel?" "Aren't you ashame of giving a bad reputation to angels" and so on and so on...

It wasn't angels, it was him, he was mean at time like every one else, he was really an angel that didn't mean he had to be perfect or accept to serve people all the time, he wasn't responsible for angels reputation, only for his own. He wouldn't have minded being a bad angel if people had stopped saying angel in their complains. He was feeling like a weak person who had to struggle for the impossible task of making everybody happy. And he knew there was no way to do that.

He sighed taking his hands out of the water in relief, the pain was gone. He held a piece of glass in his hand, it was beautiful and colorful. Every time his feelings made his hands burn he had created one and he was collecting them, as if they were the pieces of his life's puzzle.

Hitomi

"The ground started to shake as the monster approached", Hitomi paused and started to write something down on the page of the notebook which was never leaving her side.
Elian jumped on the occasion.
"What kind of monster?" he asked.
"I'm not sure I want to know that", Elios answered.
Elios was Elian twins they were almost indistinguishable except for the slightly different color of their hair when it reflected the sunlight. If Elios seemed to be the most courageous of the two in most situation, he was also scared of monsters, especially if they looked like dinosaurs, so much that his older sisters had to look under his bed to make sure that there was nothing there at bed time. But his brother at the contrary loved dinosaurs and was collecting books and figurines.
"The ground started to shake as the tall and hairy monster approached. It had a light blue color and deep pink eyes wish seemed to be rolling on themselves as if they were looking inside his head as well as outside", Hitomi started again.
"That's not scary for a monster", Elian interrupt.
"I like it better this way", Elios said encouraging.
"Don't interrupt me ok, or I'll get lost", Hitomi said.
"The monster put his hands on the window of the bedroom and started to blow at it, the glass turned red, then orange, then yellow, before exploding in a million of little stars. It passed his large hairy head through the new aperture and and started to climb the wall to get in", Hitomi paused again to write a note.
Elian and Elios were looking at her. They knew they were not allowed to talk but questions seemed to be burning their tongues.
"Jerry was looking at it. Some part of him wanted to yell and to tell his mum to come to see this but some part of him wanted to see what the monster was going to do. He waited for it to approach."
"I think that boy is crazy", Elios said unable to hold his tongue anymore.
"Why?" Elian answered.
"I would have yelled of course, people entering your room at night can do anything, anything, really", Elios answered.
"You say that just because you're too scared to let Hitomi continue", his twin answered.
"That's not true", Elios said pushing him.
"Here we go again", Hitomi thought. She let them argue for a bit, but seeing that it wasn't going to stop anytime soon, she gathered her stuff and left.
It was becoming like that more and more often. She wondered if her skills at telling stories where starting to lack or if it was just that her public at getting used to her style and was getting bored with it. There used to be a time when she could just sat in the living room, clear her throat and have everyone coming over to listen.
Now, she had to give candies to Elian and Elios to have them sit with her and she didn't even finish to read her story. She was feeling time when she noticed that it was time for her to go to the attic.
