China: Bingling temple

The Bingling temple is located in the middle of the mountain. It is more a Grotto than a temple as a lot of Buddhist statues are carved in the wall. This including one very large statue which we couldn't see as it was being restored. The two other large statues are only being mentioned as they were on the first floor which was floated when they constructed a dam during the revolution. The sand of the river coming in the site has destroyed and buried the statues on the first floor of the temple. This makes me wonder how much of the Chinese historical and cultural heritage has been lost with the change of government. The statues tell little storied of Buddhism creation and Buddhism in China, some are protected by wooden and doors which were opened during the visit. The site is really beautiful and peaceful contrarily to other touristic places.
