About Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start where we left off last week

Brownie breathed a bit more easily and took a few steps away to make sure no other arms would end up around her again. She could rise a barrier if needed but she didn't want to go through that length just to keep friendly people at a safe distance, it seemed a bit like over reacting.
Still Sandy was making her a bit jumpy. She seemed like an invasive person. Josh was pretty invasive too, talking to her at the station out of the blue and then calling her in the corridor as if they knew each other. She had never really met someone like him, ready to talk to stranger. Even her siblings, even Grenadine wasn't like that. She was loud but she wouldn't go and talk to someone she didn't know.
Brownie walked downstairs in front of the group hoping that she was going to find the entrance quickly and not be stuck in such a small space with so many people.
It was making her feel claustrophobic. She closed her eyes half a second to take a deep breath. There was nothing she could do about it. Since she was back from the cave, a lot of things seemed to have space closing around her. Of course it wasn't really true, there was enough space for all of them and even for a lot more people if needed and there was enough air too. The problem was that her mind didn't seem to understand that, no matter know much she rationalized with herself that everything was fine, that she could definitely do this and that she had nothing to fear because the cave was far gone, and she wasn't going back there. There was nothing helping. She wondered if it was part of a kind of trauma, she wouldn't be surprised. It had been so hard. She had to fix that part of herself too, she had a lot of healing to do on top of the magic.
