Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet?
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.
Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last time.
Anger, the usual response to a truth you don't want to hear. I had shared a lot more with that boy that I intended to. It was coming back to me in flashes. I realized that within their community, not all the Jägers were the same, just like I and my father had been different inside of our coven. But that wasn't going to stop me. I was going to kill them all to the last, to make sure to be free. There is no good in chasing evil if you leave the seeds able to sprout.
"What are you going to do with him?"
"We have a lot of things to learn from people who can transform matter into something else entirely," the Jäger said. "It's an interesting skill to learn."
"I guess so."
I looked away, he didn't make much sense. It wasn't about transformation of matter it went way beyond that. It couldn't be learned. They would never have it, no matter how hard they tried.
"All our experiments have failed, the human mind can control the animal transformation but the animal can't find their way back to be human."
So they had done it, somehow. I was underestimating the Jäger. I straightened myself a little.
"Maybe they just don't want to," I said. "It's easier to be an animal, you don't have to worry about anything."
