Welcome back to a new Thursday Fiction. We continue where we left of last week, following Isabelle as she figure out who she really is.
“You'll understand when you grow up,” her mother had said. That had made her uncle snort at the time.
“It's just safer, you don't want to end up somewhere disgusting or in a place where they would burn your other self for being a witch just because of curiosity,” her uncle had answered.
Still, it didn't make any sense for Isabelle and she was almost a grown up, with only a few days to go for it to be official. And she realised that there was a part of her that didn't want to go through the initiation and that was one of the reason she wanted to meet with Frederique so badly. But there was no tracking her, she could move in any universe and there was no way to know where she was. Isabelle's mother only said she didn't know how that was possible, that without the initiation there was no way to be undetectable. Then she had complained about Isabelle's will to be undetected, saying that it wasn't proper to travel to different universe with nobody knowing where you were and Isabelle had finally left it at that. There was no use in questioning her mother. She wished so much that her uncle was still there. At least he would give her proper guidance, at least he would tell her what to expect from the initiation, at least he would show her that pleading allegiance to the alliance was the best thing Isabelle could do for her future. At the moment, she only saw the limitation of it. Maybe they were going to continue tracking her to see where she was and if this respected their laws, maybe she would never be free in the end. Maybe she was just trapped here waiting. She screamed in her pillow again.
