Thursday Fiction 332: Parallel Slip: Rebel

Welcome back to a new Thursday Fiction. We continue to follow Isabelle as she figure out who she really is.

She had heard stories of hosts being killed in universes where the founding family didn't want the alliance. It was so much easier to kill one person and make sure whoever and wherever the other universe founder came from he would never come back again. Nobody could travel to a universe where they had no other self. That was one of the reason Isabelle always preferred to be a spectator. She entered her other self's mind and looked at the world through her other self's eyes. But of course, it was making her mother go crazy. The universes from the alliance had a protocol, the universes shouldn't be visited without going directly to the founding family, it was like paying a visit to someone in the same universe.

“Hey hello, I'm in your house, can I stay?”

Isabelle found it really ridiculous. The members of the alliance had to be courteous and smile at each other and be nice about having an intruder in their universe. Isabelle was sure none of them liked it but it was one of the best way to make money. To exchange information about the market evolution and to use it in their own universe. It was a really easy things to do, they didn't really need each other, they could just hop to another universe and pick up a newspaper and read it to gather their information but they preferred to be polite. Then by their rules, any other universe was off limit and that was another point Isabelle found really stupid. Why limit yourself to a few universes when you have million, billion, and infinite number to explore?
