We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.
Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last week.
“The dragons have taken the land for too long. We need to destroy their eggs,” a priest all dressed in black was talking from a stage in the centre of the place. “With the egg destroyed, the dragon will not only leave but never come back, they will know that they are not welcomed here and they will stay away.”
I didn’t know if it was because I didn’t like priests much but that talk didn’t make much sense to me. If they were to destroy the dragons’ eggs there was a huge chance for the dragon to burn down the entire city in retaliation. I progressed through the crowd trying to get closer to the priest. But there was no way for me to go close enough to look at him. There was a part of me that wanted to see if he was part of the Jäger and there was a part of me that even wanted him to be part of them. I would then have a reason to hurt someone and I would took all the frustration Irina had put inside of me onto him. I wanted blood more and more and the humans around me, shouting in agreement with the priest about the dragons’ eggs, their pulse accelerating in their veins, their blood filled with the salty taste of excitement were awaking my thirst even more. I turned around and fought my way back to the carriage.
“No way to get close enough to see who is creating the gathering,” I said to Alexej who was standing in front of the carriage’s door like a giant guarding the door of a prison.
“Those are bad news, we better go back and rest. I don’t like this city, the folks or the dragons to tell you the truth,” Alexej said.
“I think you’re right,” I answered. But I was still curious.
Alexej moved away and climbed to the driver’s sit. Irina was reading in the carriage, I took the book away. It was a mean move but I had told her that I wouldn’t even let her read anymore and I knew I needed to stick to my words if I wanted them to have a long term effect on her. She didn’t say anything, she only sight and moved away from me, sticking herself to the door and looking through the window. I was pleased. I couldn’t think about anything but her blood and if she was so unwilling it would only be better.
