Tuesday Travel 106: Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Welcome to Tuesday Travel. Every Tuesday, I will be presenting an excerpt of Witch Raising: The Book of Fire, the book in which Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul, is undertaking an initiatory journey.

About Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start where we left off last week

Things didn't add up and it was worrying Brownie quite a bit. She didn't want to end up with another half baked spell around her.

For a moment, she asked herself if she wanted to go to the cave, if it was necessary. Samantha wanted to go, Josh sort of wanted to go but it might avoid it if the girls were staying behind. She didn't know what her purpose for going in there was. It was fighting the fear but did she have to put herself into danger just to fight the fear?

If Samantha was into something dangerous, she was going to regret this.

She didn't have time to think about it too much though, the waiter came back to ask them in. It was about time, despite all the pastry she had eaten, she could already feel her stomach rambling. The restaurant was painted all in yellow, there were flames going up the walls and the ceiling seemed to be made of large tree branches with some light hanging here and there on top of small wooded tables with white and red table clothes on them. They also had candles and flowers at the center of every tables. Looking at the walls Brownie almost had the sensation that this could be hell if it weren't for the almost romantic side of the table. It was a strange mix. It was crowded but not too noisy.

They were seated on a small table just in front of a counter on the other side of which, two men were turning pizza crust high above their heads. And of course, they had the air conditioner just above them and it was suddenly very chilly.

Josh took his seat first.

"Finally," he said letting his leg spread in between the girls' chairs.
