Tuesday Travel 107: Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Welcome to Tuesday Travel. Every Tuesday, I will be presenting an excerpt of Witch Raising: The Book of Fire, the book in which Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul, is undertaking an initiatory journey.

About Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start where we left off last week

Brownie sat the closet to the counter and looked at the men making their pizza crust fly in the air before beating them down on a flour spread table. She had always wanted to try doing that but she wasn't the best cook in the world and it seemed extremely difficult. What if the dough was too liquid and ended up falling all over her face the moment she raised it high? She would have to take multiple showers to deal with it. The thought of it made her feel exhausted and miss home. There was always some catastrophes at home leading to having to take a shower, like exploding yogurts, or hiding fish in her clothes. This one had surely been the worse but it had still been worth it.

"So do you think our pizzas are already in the oven," Josh asked.

Samantha was looking at the menu already as if she wanted to order something more, which reminded Brownie of the demon cave and Samantha's spell, she wished she had been sharing their room just to see that.

"I don't know," she answered, "but I sure hope so, I'm starving."

"It's strange, normally when it's that hot, I don't want to eat anything," Josh said.

"Me neither but I never hiked with that temperature," Brownie said.

She served herself a glass of lemon water. The ice cubes were floating in it. This place had nothing to do with anything happening outside. They couldn't hear any music from the parade, but it might not have come close enough yet, and the temperature was so low. Brownie took a jumper out of her bag and passed it on.

"You're crazy girl, you should enjoy the cold, it's so good," Josh said.

Brownie shook her head and Samantha rose her hand in the air calling the waiter.

"Could I get a plate to fries?" She asked.
