WeWriWar 349: The House at The Crossing 57

Hello everybody and welcome for a new Sunday of writing with Weekend Writing Warrior and Snippet Sunday!

How are you doing?

Let's continue with  "The House at the Crossing" and it's a prequel to Demon Soul and the demon series. It's a bit of a mix of Fantasy and Science-fiction.

It follows one of the books more obscure character as she first comes into the House. It's supposed to explain why there are so many people is the house and sort of where they come from and at the same time be a first time adventure for the main character as she needs to adapt to her new role and the new version of who she is.

Let's start right at where we left off last time, let's meet Wendy.

“An experiment gone wrong,” Wendy says.
Right, an experiment.
“Are you human?” My other self asks.
I don't know why she has to verbalise every thought before trying to find the answer for ourselves, that's disturbing. I don't want to be saying everything that crosses my mind once I'm her. Is it possible that this wouldn't happen? Can we me different enough that we never actually join or absorb.
I knew I had a part of me that didn't like me but this is a bit much.

  1. That would be a challenge, not liking aspects of yourself and having those aspects come to life and speak their mind! This twisty story constantly amazes and delights - great snippet.

  2. Truly fascinating. Like a split (and distinct) personality! Intriguing snippet. :-)

  3. Love the last bit, but I'm curious about Wendy too.

  4. That would be a difficult situation. I fear that if I split into parts, we'd just kill each other.
Your book is included in this week's Roost Recommendations, featuring a link to this post, a buy link, and a blurb. I share the Roost Recommendations posts on Twitter with readers looking for their next read.

  5. That is an interesting concept to let your personalities duke it out.
