About Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start where we left off last week

"Demons can," Brownie said.
They all looked at her.
"At least some of them," she added, that was true and that was awkward.
"Don't tell me you're also part of the crazy that believe in that stuff, demons and all," Samuel said. "We already had enough with one."
The girl with the strand of blue hair extended her hand to Brownie.
"I'm Samantha. Nice to see that there are some nice people around," she said, rolling her eyes in Samuel's direction.
"I'm Brownie. Tell me more about those Lions. What do they look like when they are not, in fire shape."
That sounded like Yue and Sahel. The Lions. Except Sahel and Yue changed into phoenixes, birds. And they didn't need to change to control the fire it just happened sometimes. Brownie wasn't really sure how they did it or why. But the fire here would probably help Sahel if she could tell him about it. Except she realized what had happened earlier, that she had broken up with him and had left him. Maybe when she was to come back, her life would be very different, maybe he wouldn't even be there to share her new secrets. She suddenly wasn't sure the trip was really worth it, because she might lose him forever this time.
"I don't want to be mean or anything but the only interesting things about this festival is that they have a lot of bands playing in the evening, the rest is bullshit," Samuel said.
"Come on man, let the girls have their fun with the lions," Josh answered laughing.
"Why come here? You can always listen to music in your freaking hole 10 hours of bus away," Samantha said.
