About Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start where we left off last week

They reached the bottom of the last fly of stairs and walk through the corridor, chatty Sandy came closer to her letting go of her boyfriend's hand as if she was going to talk more to Brownie about turning her vegetarian. Her arm rose as if to touch Brownie but she let it go down as if she changed her mind and went back to her boyfriend.
Brownie smiled. A little barrier to avoid that kind of contact wasn't an over reaction, it was a necessity and she already felt the space open and her lung filling up more easily before even reaching the entrance.
Rori looked at them and rose and eyebrow. The woman behind her deck of cards turned one last and smiled, her smile disappeared when she looked up and saw that Brownie was not alone.
"Here is your money," she said to Rori handing him a ten.
"Don't be like that Trisha, really, you can't always win. You might be getting tired." Then to Brownie. "Thanks, girl, that's the first I got back today."
"You're welcome," Brownie answered.
"We are going out to eat," Josh said. "Any good place for fire stew?"
"With a vegetarian version," Marri with two "r"'s added.
"We got no vegetable stew around," Rori answer. "But if you want stew go check on old Graddy. It's on the opposite street after you pass the main. It's the only restaurant with a hanging sign over the street, you can't miss it. Tell him you're staying here, he'll give you a price."
"But for the vegetarian version, old Graddy is no good," Trisha said. "If that's what you really want you'll have to go to the east center, it's about three miles away and they have a lot of things from different places."
"Stew it is," Samuel said.
Sandy putted.
"Sorry babe but after 10 hours in the damn bus to come here, I'm not walking three miles in and back to get some food that I won't even like. Stew it is."
