About Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start where we left off last week

Brownie took a deep breath and opened both her fists. Practical magic couldn't hurt, at worse, she would get kicked out of here, it was all right though, she hadn't even paid for the room yet, they didn't even discuss the price.
Oh my, what was she doing in a room with a stranger holding her hands when they hadn't even discuss the price of the hostel room yet.
"You need to relax a little," the woman said. She dropped Brownie's left hand and the loss of contact threw a wave of cold through Brownie. It wasn't really cold but the woman's hands were so warm and gentle.
"You have seen a lot of strange things that nobody should have seen." The woman said. "You have creatures attached to you, very bad creatures."
That's what Brownie had thought about, she was going to see something demon related and totally freak out.
"For some reasons you know exactly what I'm talking about but you are not afraid of them, you are more afraid of normal human beings." The woman said.
"With demons, at least, we know what to expect, there are signs," Brownie said. "With humans, there can be wolves hidden behind the kindest smile."
"What a dreadful way to go through life," the woman said looking in Brownie's eyes. "You have lost the second half of yourself so many times. And you are running away from that loss now."
"I'll go back," Brownie said.
"I know," the woman answered, "but the real part of you is gone unless you unlock its memory. It will be a difficult journey."
"Is it about Yue, or Sahel?" Brownie asked.
"I don't read names, only feelings and energies but you should already know the answer to this question," the woman said.
