WeWriWar 312: The House at the Crossing 17

Hello everybody and welcome for a new Sunday of writing with Weekend Writing Warrior and Snippet Sunday!
I decided to change things a little bit so for the next few months, I'm going to present you my new WIP. It's called "The House at the Crossing" and it's a prequel to Demon Soul and the demon series. It's a bit of a mix of Fantasy and Science-fiction.
It follows one of the books more obscure character as she first come into the House. It's suppose to explain why there are so many people is the house and sort of where they come from and at the same time be a first time adventure for the main character as she needs to adapt to her new role and the new version of who she is.

Since it's a WIP, and I still haven't finished the first draft, it's still really row. Hopefully, we'll see some improvement as it goes.

Let's start right at where we left off last week!

“I want you all to sit down and take a deep breath,” Aunt Teresa says.
We are all freaking out. I can feel the energy coming form the other forms of myself and they are as scared as I am. For a second, I wished I had left Hiroshi with a baby sitter and come alone here because the entire place seems frightening.
It's just a house, with some people I don't know, I try to reassure myself but it's a bit hard.
I make sure Hiroshi's crib is way out of the way of everybody and check out where is the door. I could just take him and run out, if I need too. But, I'm feeling so exhausted that instead, I do what Teresa asked and sit back on my chair. I open the letter. I don't remember reading it but it still feels familiar.

  1. I wonder if she's really exhausted, or if she's been put under a spell or maybe even drugged. Good snippet. :-)

  2. This phrase brought the whole snippet to life for me: "other forms of myself." You've got me wondering now.

  3. I like her concern for the baby and her foresight in identifying a way out if needed. Excellent excerpt!

  4. This sounds such a tense and weird situation for her. Great snippet, made me want to know what's going to happen.
