WeWriWar 132: Rainbow Catcher

Welcome to a new excerpt of Rainbow Catcher for the Weekend Writing Warrior and Snippet Sunday

Now let's go back to our story.

Summary of previous episodes: Clarissa is coughing and wanted to watch Everett Cooper on TV but Jason refused, she is due to get her rainbow the next day but she seems scared, to make her feel better Jason leave the TV on. Clarissa tried to explain about rainbows, she is a big fan of Everett Cooper but Jason is not too sure about it. Clarissa complained about her dialophone but Jason needs to go to work. Before completely leaving he is thinking about getting her her rainbow. We flashed back to the meeting Jason had with a rainbow seller at the black market. Jason left Clarissa's room to go to work. Jason was talking to his boss about the rainbow coming the next day. Jason prepared the money for the rainbow in a sport bag and went to the hospital.

We start just where we left off last week.

Someone knocked loudly at the door, taking Clarissa out of her reverie. The fat man pushed the door open and entered before being invited to do so. He was as sweating as when Jason had met him the first time and large stains could be seen around the armpits of his dark green suit. He didn’t take a few steps that

Clarissa already hid under the blanket. She was not easily scared, but this man looked nasty.
“You have the money?” he asked Jason putting the rainbow cold case he was carrying on the floor.

Answer to last week's comments:

Ed: Can't have rainbow without rain, at least on our planet. Also Juno was short for JuNoWriMo, that's the June version of NaNoWriMo. I don't have a music award though I play a little bit of piano and a bit less of violin. My biggest day this time around was 8365 words. My biggest day ever was 17466 last July when I was doing a Camp NaNo for 150k, I wouldn't do it ever again, my brain tend to crash after 13k.
Joyce: Thanks, I'm trying.
Veronica: As it's a different planet, I'm trying to make it special. I'm glad you like it.
Karen: In her state, she can't catch a rainbow, but I'm sure someone will. ;)

  3. Ooh, the way you describe him, the person does seem scary and unpleasant, as well as untrustworthy! I hate to think of him handling rainbows! Great snippet...

  4. Things are coming to a head here, I think. (Does Clarissa know that he's been saving to buy her a rainbow?) I can't wait for next week. Loved her reaction to the man.

  5. So, the rainbow arrives, eh? It's about time.

I noticed a few typos -- hope you don't mind me pointing them out. "He didn’t take a few steps that" ... ends without really ending. And "He was as sweating as when" needs a bit of work.
