Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advices of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German. Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert.

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left of last week.

I had a long dreamless sleep. Maybe because I was too tired, maybe because the effect of the last blood I had drunk was long over. I woke up carving for blood and had to tell the boy who knocked at my door that morning to go away. If he had opened the door he would have died and I couldn’t risk killing someone in day time. I took some time to calm myself and drunk as much water as I could before getting sick to wash away the taste of my own blood in my mouth. I had noticed that blood was calling for blood. When I needed to drink some it was like all of mine was rushing to my head, to my mouth, to my nose. I decided that I would have to go hunting soon.
The man came to fix my horse shoes. That was a bit painful to watch. Not that it was painful for the horse but I kept on wondering how it would feel to have my feet taken care of and pierce that way. My need for blood was making me more sensitive. As soon as my horse was ready I took the road again. I wanted to arrive in the next city soon to find something decent to drink. Drinking human blood was not really appealing but it was a necessity. I couldn’t let myself go depressed at the slight think for lack of blood and I knew that if I was delaying more I would pick the first person coming toward me whether it was a judicious choice or not.
I stopped at the border with the dukedom of Lorrain. I could have gone a bit further, my horse seemed tiredless and as eager as I was to reach France, but I needed blood and I knew I would be safer changing country afterward. I find a small inn, it was really dirty and there were no other customers and they had a stable for three horses that was empty as well. That was exactly what I had been looking for. I left my horses before going to my room to take some rest, waiting for the night. The image of the hunt was forming in my head. I knew it wasn’t the first time I would hunt humans but I wasn’t really sure how to proceed. I needed something easy to start with, something young, something sane and healthy. The taste of my own blood in my mouth was making it easy to feel the repulsion of feeding on my own kind. I was feeling more like a vampire. I was human only when the effects of blood were absent and that was between the effects after feeding and the effect of the need.
It was a grey night, without moon or stars as thick grey cloud had been covering the sky. When I walked out of my room after resting the inn owner’s wife asked me what I wanted for dinner. I barely took the time to tell her that I was dining out before walking out. She seemed displeased, for them that was that less of money but had she knew what I was planning she would have been grateful.
