Ximenia caffra (A-to-Z challenge 2015)

Hello and welcome to a new fruity post of the April A-to-Z challenge. Yes, I can find a fruit for every letter and yes this one also seem super weird let me introduce the large sourplum, Ximenia caffra!

Ximenia comes from south east Africa. It's a sour fruit with a dry after taste and filled with potassium. Potassium's chemical name is K, haha that's a funny one and potassium is good for you, if you need some but don't have a Ximenia around you can still grab a banana.

The tree gives fruits but also white flowers. It is used widely for human consumption as fuel, medicinal plant and food. You can even make oil from it's seeds and use it's wood for construction. Birds love to eat it's fruit and butterflies feed on it's leaves.
It also has a variation in America as the Yellow Plum which is called Ximenia America.

I think it's rather impressive for one thing to have so many uses and sort of taking care of a full ecosystem.

Except for that I don't have much to say about this one so let's today's post be a bit shorter than usual and see if you can come up with another fruit starting with X.
