Mango (A-to-Z challenge 2015)

Hello and welcome to a new fruity post for the A-to-Z challenge.

Today I will be telling you about the mango.

Yes, I know, not a berry, not a citrus, there has to be something special about this one... well... it's delicious!!

The mango is highly cultivated but most of the trees in the mango tree family can be found in the wild too which makes it pretty cool if you are lost in a tropical jungle somewhere in south and south-east asia because you can always save yourself by eating mangoes.
Mango is the national fruit of India, Pakistan and the Philippines and the national tree of Bangladesh. By the way did you know that it was New Year in Bangladesh a few days ago (and in Sri Lanka) So Happy New Year to all my Bangladeshi and Sri Lankan readers.

The mango trees are pretty high like 35 to 40 meters, which means that if you are standing bellow a mango tree and a mango is to fall on your head, that might hurt. After that also depends how ripe the fruit is.

The pretty thing about mango is that they come from flowers. See the little yellow ball in the middle of the flowers? Well that's what grows into the fruits.

  1. Hello there.
I love mangoes. You can eat them as is, turn them into smoothies or salsa. I've found another use for mangoes, not the flesh, but mango butter (from the seed) in my DIY Mango-Shea Body Cream. Mango butter is a semi-solid butter, like cocoa butter. It's extremely emollient and good for use not only on the body but also in the hair (I'm talking natural, curly hair). Best when mixed with a carrier oil like Jojoba.
    Thanks for sharing.
