Mystery Monday 43: Harajuku Kiss

Welcome Mystery Monday. For this weekly writing blog post, I will be presenting snippets of my novel Harajuku Kiss, a mystery romance in Japan.
I hope you'll enjoy following our heroine through her thoughts and adventures.

About Harajuku Kiss

At times, life can be so depressing. She is walking her usual recovery tour in Harajuku, finishing with a crepe, trying to forget that her boyfriend dumped her once again for the week-end... When the unthinkable happens... A boy stops in front of her in the street and kisses her, in the middle of the street, before running away.
Trying to discover more about him, she is dragged into a dangerous game of mystery. A biologist has been murdered and a deadly virus is on the loose. First suspect: the mysterious Harajuku's stranger.

Here is the snippet for this week

He stared at the people he was running from. I was almost certain of it even though I wasn't sure I had see anyone around looking for him. And then he asked me to save him, he took his hands out of his pockets and kissed me. A really intense kiss. Not like a first kiss, but more like a burning kiss. And his hands, where… oh my god, why didn’t have realized that before? I was just so foolish after all. The kiss served only to divert my attention. It wasn’t romantic! He was a pick-pocket! One of his hands held me tight, the other was in my bag.

I reached for my bag in a hurry and turned it up side down, emptying it of its content. I wondered if thievery had been the reason why he was pursued and I somehow helped him escape because stealing these guys hadn't been enough for him, he wanted something from me too.

WeWriWar 314: The House at the Crossing 19

Hello everybody and welcome for a new Sunday of writing with Weekend Writing Warrior and Snippet Sunday!

I decided to change things a little bit so for the next few months, I'm going to present you my new WIP. It's called "The House at the Crossing" and it's a prequel to Demon Soul and the demon series. It's a bit of a mix of Fantasy and Science-fiction.
It follows one of the books more obscure character as she first come into the House. It's suppose to explain why there are so many people is the house and sort of where they come from and at the same time be a first time adventure for the main character as she needs to adapt to her new role and the new version of who she is.

Since it's a WIP, and I still haven't finished the first draft, it's still really row. Hopefully, we'll see some improvement as it goes.

Let's start right at where we left off last week!

There is no way she'll ever have my favorite tea, I mean I like lavender-vanilla combo. It's really rare and less and less stores were carrying it where I lived.

I open the drawer and pass my hand in my hair again. They are longer this time, I move my pony tail over my shoulder and thought I had dreamed the short hair. There is no tea in the drawer, just forks and spoons and...

“Close it and think about what you need,” Teresa says.
I turn to face her and the other versions of myself, there are eight of them at the table just now and they are all looking at me with expectations. I don't understand what's going on. I'm not on drugs and I never fell in the rabbit hole for wonderland, I'm way too old for this.

Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 257

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet? Sign up to be part of our awesome Vampire Friday blog hop team! You know you want to!

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.
Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last week

The vision started to get blurred, I tried to hold on to it, on the perfume of Sorina in my arms on that night where she was still with me, I wanted to know what happened next even though I already knew the ending of that story, there would be a fire and we would be dragged to the castle but I wanted to know if I could protect her, I needed to know if what happened to her was really my fault for missing something in my family’s intention, I wanted to know if it was something I could have prevented. But the vision stopped and once again I was in the bedroom of the inn and the philosopher stone’s cold wave was moving around in me with its cold and quick motion to find another memory to heal. The wave progressed from my head back to the stone and started to go up my arm again but I removed my finger tip from it before it finished. I was breaching hard, I was completely out of breath, my heart was racing in my chest like I had never felt it before. I could feel my heart beat against my temples. I started to tremble. I felt like I had gone through an overdose of philosopher stone power. I huddled up in the bed thinking about Sorina, it was getting worse, I was feeling nauseous. I managed to stubble out of bed to the bedroom pot and vomit my diner. I tried to breath slowly, gasping for air, blew my nose, vomit again until there was nothing left in my body and I could only vomit a green and nauseating liquid, I was thinking about throwing the stone away and never look back at it and going to hunt to get my memory back naturally. And then it stopped. Once my stomach was empty, I felt totally refreshed and ready to use the stone again. I thought I had gone crazy, changing my mind every minute. I looked at the stone hanging from my chest and remembered to myself that I needed to skip diner whenever I was going to use it. I felt that my memory as a vampire was changing my body, I wonder if my heart was going to stop beating and if I will become unable to walk in the sun. I resolved to check my pulse and my heart beat every time I was going to walk out. I didn’t know how it would feel not to see the sun anymore. I remembered that I used to run out as a wolf during the day but I didn’t remember how to change myself yet. I needed more memories. The men were still shouting downstairs and the night was pitch black

Thursday Fiction 251: Parallel Slip

Welcome back to a new part of Parallel Slip, where we follow the adventures of Frederique through her slip in different parallel universes.

Let's start right where we left off last week.

"There is a part of your brain which is called the dead zone. It's an area that has either been giving up about by evolution or which evolution hasn't find a use for yet. Basically we don't use its full potential. It can happen however that we fire some pathway through to compensate for other region but this. This is something totally unexpected. Now I know why the doctor was freaking out."
Alex gave a glance to my brain scan.
"No idea what all those color means but is seem totally lighten up," he said.
"And it last for ever," I said turning the pages. There was a picture for 30 to 60 seconds taking a few pages and they repeated it every five minutes than every ten. I had never had ten minutes spaced MRI before, normally I would wake up after a few shots. But I needed to get back to Alex and to think about what this all meant later.
"Fact number three I have none of the symptom preceding fainting, I never had. I never feel it coming, no dizziness, no nausea, nothing of the sort. Fact four, I'm fine when I wake up, ready to go running."
"You do that blinking thing."
"That's to make sure where I am," I said impressed that he had notice, nobody ever mentioned it before. Sometimes, well after the drug episode mostly I could slip from universe to universe never being sure if I was really home or not.
"That sounds pretty wear, because I can tell you, your body never disappeared," Alex said.
"Well parallel universe are related to quantum theory, right? So it has to be only noticeable under Plank constant."
"But you are above Plank constant like by 28 order of magnitude. And we can't travel to parallel universe," Alex said.
He had done his homework, it was going to be a tough one.
"That's why my body stays here and only my mind goes," I said.
