WeWriWar 312: The House at the Crossing 17

Hello everybody and welcome for a new Sunday of writing with Weekend Writing Warrior and Snippet Sunday!
I decided to change things a little bit so for the next few months, I'm going to present you my new WIP. It's called "The House at the Crossing" and it's a prequel to Demon Soul and the demon series. It's a bit of a mix of Fantasy and Science-fiction.
It follows one of the books more obscure character as she first come into the House. It's suppose to explain why there are so many people is the house and sort of where they come from and at the same time be a first time adventure for the main character as she needs to adapt to her new role and the new version of who she is.

Since it's a WIP, and I still haven't finished the first draft, it's still really row. Hopefully, we'll see some improvement as it goes.

Let's start right at where we left off last week!

“I want you all to sit down and take a deep breath,” Aunt Teresa says.
We are all freaking out. I can feel the energy coming form the other forms of myself and they are as scared as I am. For a second, I wished I had left Hiroshi with a baby sitter and come alone here because the entire place seems frightening.
It's just a house, with some people I don't know, I try to reassure myself but it's a bit hard.
I make sure Hiroshi's crib is way out of the way of everybody and check out where is the door. I could just take him and run out, if I need too. But, I'm feeling so exhausted that instead, I do what Teresa asked and sit back on my chair. I open the letter. I don't remember reading it but it still feels familiar.

Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 255

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet? Sign up to be part of our awesome Vampire Friday blog hop team! You know you want to!

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.
Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last week

Once again he stopped at a safe distance, as if he was expecting me to jump on him and slice his throat any minutes. Had he made a move to frighten me, I wouldn’t have hesitated but I knew by the position he stood in at the vampire meeting earlier that he was important for the British clan and that it wouldn’t be judicious of me to kill him right away. The retaliations would be heavy, especially toward the humans until they drove nuts my clan.
“You don’t need to be afraid of me,” he said bending on his left side to take a closer look at Sorina.
She was still looking straight at him but I felt her move in my back. She was scared and trembling, I could smell it and I knew he could smell it too but he didn’t seem to enjoy it like the rest of the vampires I knew did.
“Leave her alone. What I said last night is still effective, the first one touching her is dead,” I said.
Dylan laughed.
“We are moving out, we will be gone from this inn.” He said.
“Are you going to leave just like that because my uncle asked you too? Aren’t you looking for something important?” I asked not believing him. “We are moving on the side of the village facing the palace. Noone speaking to my father as he did is still alive, there is nothing to be done about it, all your clan is going to die, my father would do anything to get his answer and that means that he killed a lot of vampire for it in my country and on the way to come here. We are here because he truly believe that your clan is the superior class of vampire the one closer to the origin and he wants to know where we come from even if he has to torture every single one of you to get to the castle and your library.” Dylan said.
“He wants to go to your library? But there is nothing there, it’s deserted, nothing interested, just unreadable old stuff with a language so old and a script lost in time, even my uncle can’t read that anymore,” I said.
“My father is very resourceful and even if you were to tell him and show him, he wouldn’t believe you until he had seen it for himself.” Dylan answered.

Thursday Fiction 249: Parallel Slip

Welcome back to a new part of Parallel Slip, where we follow the adventures of Frederique through her slip in different parallel universes.

Image by Gerd Altmann from Pixabay
Let's start right where we left off last week.

"It all started when I was four. One day, I fainted. Fainted is nothing much really. There are a lot of kids who can even do it on purpose. At first, the doctor said that I was asking for attention. That I needed something I couldn't verbalize. My father took it as such, my mother however decided that there was something wrong with me. A child seeking attention would definitely start a tantrum first, but I would just faint in the middle of my meals or while sleeping or when playing quietly. And when I woke up, I would tell them stories. I don't have any record of the stories of that time, my mother classified them as child nonsensical fantasy.
"That's when the brain scan started. I was fainting and she decided there must be something wrong with my brain. She closely monitored everything I ate and made sure that I didn't get any extra gluten or sugar or whatever she thought was bad for me at school. She told the teacher to call her if I was to black out at school. She was always one ring away and I ended up at the hospital on a daily basis. They would take pictures of my brain, do blood tests, make sure I was feeling fine nad let us go. It took considerable time and energy from both my mother and me and her relationship with my father deteriorated partially because of it, partially because he had a problem of his own. He tried to stop her from over reacting with each black out but there was not use. There was a lot of yelling and a lot of anger hanging in the air. When I was seven, I was still going through several faint a day, and my father couldn't take it anymore so he left us. My mother made sure during the divorce that he was to never see me again. Few weeks after winning at becoming my only care giver, she had new drugs tested on me. At first it was good, I was becoming a normal girl and she was happy, no more black out, no more funny stories and lies, not more drama. But it wasn't all that simple. My body got used to the drug and the following reaction was unprecedented. I went through black out after black out barely able to say awake long enough to eat. I spent the few following weeks at the hospital and my father gave me a phone to hide from my mother but that I could use to call and text him. We always stayed in contact that way and he asked me to right down anything I would see during my black out. That's when things turned out to become very different for me."
Alex still hadn't looked at me. He was just listening intensely, probably concentrating more on my story than on the road.

Wednesday Snippet 251: Blue Angel

Welcome to a new part of Blue Angel unedited, we start right where we left off last time.

“Evalynn, what's wrong?” He said putting his hands on her shoulder to for her to look at him.
“There is someone here who shouldn't be,” Sahel said.
“It's my father,” Evalynn answered shacking. “He came to take me away.”
“This is not happening,” Azazel answered. “Look at me, nobody is going to take you away.”
“You can't fight him, he is too strong,” Evalynn said.
“And he is not alone,” Sahel said, looking in the room. There was a group of people walking around like checking stuff.
The sanctuary had become such a mess than just anyone could enter now.
“This place is not save, it's filled with watcher,” Seti said, “But how did you feel them?”
For all answer Sahel walked back in the passage and pulled his medallion out of his T-shirt and opened it. His dark shadow rushed out.
“Where are they? Where are they?” he said punching the air in front of him as if he had a body.
“Calm down, we aren't fighting, at least not yet,” Sahel said before turning to Seti, “My shadow can sense danger before I even notice it.”
“We gotta get Evalynn out of here then we come back it get these guys,” he said.
“I don't think that will be necessary,” Seti said.
Someone might also have noticed the intruder because a fight had started in a corner. Seti noticed the father of the twin.
“I need to get my sister out of here too,” he said.
“You leave on the other side,” Azazel said as if it was impossible to cross. He was holding Evalynn protectively, she seemed to have completely lost herself.
“You guys get out and wait for me at my place, I'll take care of Seti's sister,” Sahel said.
“We can't leave you here alone,” Seti said.
“There is no other options, these guys know you and Az gotta take care of Eva, just make sure you take your black stones with you,” Sahel said. He didn't wait for them to answer, he rushed through the room asking the kids to follow him taking them out of the fight.
