Tuesday Travel 17: Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Welcome to the first Tuesday Travel post. Every Tuesday, I will be presenting an excerpt of Witch Raising: The Book of Fire.

About Witch Raising: The Book of Fire

Witch Raising is a new series with Brownie, the heroine of Demon Soul as the main character. This series is part of the House at the Crossing Series and follows Demon Soul and Demon and Fairy but instead of being centered on the adventure of Sahel and his demon friends, it follows Brownie as she goes from being a normal girl to a bad ass witch. She has been practicing magick for a while now, saving people from difficult situations but the people at the house, including Sahel aren't happy with her new calling. Feeling that she doesn't have a choice and has to keep learning witchcraft, Brownie leaves to meet other witches.

The excerpt, we start where we left off last week

“We don't have a disagreement, Sahel, you do and you disagree about me, who I am, what I do, how I do it.”
“That's so childish,” Sahel said.
“You have no respect for what I feel and what I need,” Brownie said.
“You need a reality check, you are choosing magic over me, you have been to hell and back to get me and now you are throwing all away to feed an addiction you don't need,” Sahel said.
“I'm no addicted to magic, far from it,” Brownie said. “I'm learning about it, and I'm learning about myself.”
“You are in denial,” Sahel said.
“It doesn't change anything, I'm going,” Brownie answered.
She turned around to take care of another waffle. She wanted to cry but there wasn't anything to cry about. The way he was treating her, that wasn't what she wanted in a relationship. That was supposed to be love as Sahel saw it but it wasn't. She couldn't decide when things had starting to go so wrong between them but after they drunk that potion, he had never been the same. She had changed too, the fear at creeped up on her from the many times she had died because of her association with him and with magic. Maybe that was the same with him, maybe he already knew that she was going to die but that wasn't an excuse for what is lack of trust was doing to her.
Sahel stood up and move forward so that the table wasn't separating them anymore.
“You're not going anywhere, you can't go anywhere, that's so selfish and irresponsible,” Sahel said.
Brownie looked at him, her eyes were harsh.
“I'm done, ok” Brownie said.

Mystery Monday 17: Harajuku Kiss

Welcome Mystery Monday. For this weekly writing blog post, I will be presenting snippets of my novel Harajuku Kiss, a mystery romance in Japan.
I hope you'll enjoy following our heroine through her thoughts and adventures.

About Harajuku Kiss

At times, life can be so depressing. She is walking her usual recovery tour in Harajuku, finishing with a crepe, trying to forget that her boyfriend dumped her once again for the week-end... When the unthinkable happens... A boy stops in front of her in the street and kisses her, in the middle of the street, before running away.
Trying to discover more about him, she is dragged into a dangerous game of mystery. A biologist has been murdered and a deadly virus is on the loose. First suspect: the mysterious Harajuku's stranger.

Here is the snippet for this week

He liked parks, as kid he would stay late at night with his brother, waiting for their father to fall asleep, to come home.

“Kaji, I’m hungry,” he heard Seiji's voice in his bleeding ear as if his brother shared his pain once more.

“Wait a little bit longer, I’ll push you on the swing,” he would answer.

“Kaji, I’m cold,” Seiji said.

“Here,” Kaji would remove his jumper and give it to him.

WeWriWar 290: Demon Soul

Welcome to a new excerpt of DEMON SOUL for the Weekend Writing Warrior and Snippet Sunday

Pre-Plot:
Brownie is a normal girl, or so she thinks. She likes to chat with her sisters about random things, she likes fashion and she is member of the fashion club at school. But one day, as her little brother gets really sick because of a curse placed on him, she meets this really strange guy who cures him absorbing the baby's sickness within himself. As he is about to fall from his new acquired fever, Brownie sees Yue's soul and immediately falls in love with him. But Yue is not a human, Yue is a demon.
Brownie and Yue will built their love story until....

Plot:
Until Yue's soul is stolen. There is nothing left of their love. The purple light dancing in Yue's grey eyes is gone. Forever? Not quite. Brownie is desperate to find it back. And to get a soul stolen by demons, she needs to go deep into dark magic! But Brownie is not a witch, she is just looking for a spell powerful enough to bring her love back. When an amateur starts playing with strong magic without preparation and without caring for the consequences, things turn wrong...

Let's start right where we left off last week!

He disappeared and Dylan rushed after him in the corridor, avoiding the sunlight.
“Thanks,” Brownie whispered looking ashamed.
“My pleasure.” Dylan winked at her before disappearing, following Viorel.
Brownie put the incense and the aquamarine stone in a drawer, then entered the bathroom and got rid of her clothes. She turned on the shower and looked at herself in the mirror waiting for the water to warm up. One good thing done, she suddenly felt like she could sleep forever. Getting the rest of the list later on this afternoon would be way easier. The warm water sliding softly on her skin and the noise of the shower in her ears were making her feel better.

Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 231

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet? Sign up to be part of our awesome Vampire Friday blog hop team! You know you want to!

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.
Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last week.

“Alexej, please take some rest, you have done an awesome job today,” I said pushing the thought slightly in his mind to help him keep at rest and forget about Irina.
“Yes, I will, I want to be ready early tomorrow,” he said. “I need to first take care of the horses.”
I didn’t expect such an answer, he looked as if he had felt my thoughts pushing through him and had given the best answer he could to make me believe that it worked. I decided not to push the thoughts again and to wait the next occasion to verify if he was really immune to my power. I wondered if he had been faking it before as well and what his reasons to do so were. I felt deep inside of me that Alexej was going to bring me a lot more trouble than Irina. I smiled at him pretending that I didn’t notice that anything was wrong.
“I’ll order you a room,” I said.
“No need sir, I’ll sleep with the horses on the carriage,” Alexej answered.
“I’m glad to see that you are taking your job so seriously but there is no need to overdo it,” I said feeling a bit uncomfortable about having him defying my authority, there was definitely to trace of my powers in him.
“It will be safer, if people see you pay for a room for your driver, they will come after you tomorrow,” he said looking around as to make sure that there were no one to be seen.
“Do as you want, I trust you Alexej,” I said and followed Irina, taking her arm to lead her to the inn.
“Is your sword ready?” she asked with a half voice.
“Why do you ask?”
“I would think that it is and it better be, his man is nothing like a normal driver,” she said.
“What makes you think so?”
“I have seen drivers before, bowing in front of someone while laughing is pure arrogance.” She answered with a very serious tone which I found particularly amusing but I knew that there was some base for truth in what she felt about Alexej and that she was just having difficulty to express herself about what it was.
