WeWriWar 300: The House at the Crossing 5

Hello everybody and welcome for a new Sunday of writing with Weekend Writing Warrior and Snippet Sunday!

I decided to change things a little bit so for the next few months, I'm going to present you my new WIP. It's called "The House at the Crossing" and it's a prequel to Demon Soul and the demon series. It's a bit of a mix of Fantasy and Science-fiction.
It follows one of the books more obscure character as she first come into the House. It's suppose to explain why there are so many people is the house and sort of where they come from and at the same time be a first time adventure for the main character as she needs to adapt to her new role and the new version of who she is.

Since it's a WIP, and I still haven't finished the first draft, it's still really row. Hopefully, we'll see some improvement as it goes.

Let's start right at where we left off last week!

“Hi, I'm Margo,” we say at the same time extending our hands.
They touch and there is a bit of electricity so we both pull away without shaking them.
I can see that she has two babies in her crib, at least her version of their dad didn't take her daughter. They look so peaceful and pink compared to my very white son. It's funny because my daughter had darker skin, like her dad. That's why she was the one he took, because she looked like him. He never actually took Hiroshi in his arm, the only one he was ever interested in was Mikala. He named her that too, after his grand-mother, the brightest pianist in the world history, except, I never heard of her, never heard her play, never saw a single video of her or picture of her at the piano.

Vampire Friday: Vampire Heart 243

Welcome to a new part of Vampire Heart unedited. Have you been bitten yet? Sign up to be part of our awesome Vampire Friday blog hop team! You know you want to!

Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advises of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna. The little problem is that the guy at the inn was a bit of an asshole and helped capture Viorel thinking he was a vampire, which he is but nobody needs to know. Now there is a huge man (which I call the colossi) taking care of Viorel and a priest. They brought a girl. Torture my holy water... Fail. Viorel managed to confuse everyone, now he would like to get out of here. But the girl seems pretty useless. They still managed to escape and he left the girl to the care of the boat lady before going back to have two words with his captors but his power of persuasion were failing him. The priest wanted to crack a deal but Viorel is not really up to help his enemies. He finally got some blood but he can't risk to stay in Vienna. He travel to Linz were he stays a bit to learn German.
Viorel wanted to go to Praha but redirect himself toward Augsburg instead where he wants to get a horse, except that the horses are a bit scared of his vampirism and maybe something else. Viorel is really not a horse expert. Then he comes into an altercation with couple of people, he wants some fear in his blood. The girl Viorel has found seemed to enjoy the game. Viorel prepares for the nightmares that come with a feast of blood, in a rush to leave, he cross the dukedom of Lorrain.
We introduced Sorina, three weeks after the beginning of Viorel's escape.
Viorel dreamed of Sorina and woke up not really remembering anything. Traveling to Paris, he arrives at "La cour des miracles". He is rescued by a stranger who turned out to be Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist he was looking for. Nicolas does some strange experiment without Viorel's agreement. Some people are looking for Nicolas's secrets. On the other side of Europe, Sorina awakes and Viorel's past in haunting him. Viorel discovered that he can change into a wolf but that's not the easiest thing to handle. After finding out that a younger version of Nicolas might not be acting with his best interest at heart, Viorel decides to leave for the north. He is now traveling with two people, Alexej who needed to get out of Praha and Irina who he accidentally rescued.

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left off last week

I woke up with a startle, I had slide in the bath and my mouth and nose were under water. I sat up and cough, the water had come up through my nose and the feeling was disagreeable. I must have been here a long time because the water was cold, I had wrinkles on my hands and the candles had run off. The darkness of the room was such that I couldn’t even see my feed. I moved my hand toward my sword, the feeling of its weight in my hand comforted me, I passed my thumb on the rough handle while waiting for my eyes to adapt. Thinking about Dylan, his father, my uncle, wondering if there was something that could have been done differently that day, at that meeting to escape the dreadful consequences of what had happened in my village few days later. They were fool, both of them, only thinking about themselves and their proud. There was nothing glorious for me in keeping your head up when so many life would have to pay the consequences for your actions. But now I knew the main difference between the humans and us. The humans were afraid to die and they thus carefully measured the consequences of everything they said and did in our presence. They had agreed to have us drink their blood because it was the most cost effective way to stay alive for them. Vampires weren’t scared of death, we had all been living for so long that we weren’t fearing our own death or the death of anyone in our clan. That was making us careless, proud, and incredible above everything. I knew that my uncle though himself as a god. He was the closed thing to the first vampire, he was the older vampire of the clan. By asking for answers, Dylan’s father had not only bashed at his authority but he had also changed how my uncle saw himself. He wasn’t the oldest and most respected vampire anymore, his position could be taken away by the new comer and there was nothing he could do about it. If he competed with him he might have lost and losing would have meant the end of his era and reign as we knew it, a victory would have reassert him in his position but he had too much vanity to try it, he was afraid of the new comer, and of the new powers they might have brought with them. He was afraid of their knowledge and of what we could have learned from them. It was his weakness that had lead to the end of the village. I knew now why there weren’t has many vampires to my execution as I had seen in this last dream, they were dead.

Thursday Fiction 237: Parallel Slip

Welcome back to a new part of Parallel Slip, where we follow the adventures of Frederique through her slip in different parallel universes.

Let's start right where we left off last week.

I could hear a murmur of appreciation in the crowd.
"And nobody is going to come nagging at him if he replace a spice with another because he unfortunately run out.
"I am the captain onboard. I take hard decision because I'm good at it. I didn't call you here today to be a brat. I didn't ask you to stop working so that I could give you a pathetic little show of a spoiled girl. I called you here today because of what is fair. The confederation wants me out he said. Well what does the confederation knows? They read reports, not mine, mind you I'm too busy to actually write any."
Some people in the crowd laughed. I was winning them over. I just hoped that the good humor would suffice.
"So they take his words, and decide without asking anyone else that he is right, this is unfair, to me, to all of us. So I'm asking you today to be here and to decide for your own life. It is time for you to say what you want and to be heard. I'm giving you to power to decide if you want to go through this asteroid barrier with me or if you want to risk crashing on an asteroid with him. I'm asking you if you want to discover Antares or if you want to go home as failure for not making the trip. I'm asking you what you want for your own life!"
I stopped. I was done.
"Now it's your turn," I said.
There were talking and the whispering was becoming louder and louder. They were debating but I couldn't focus on anything they said. I was exhausted. Talking to everyone was not easy. Standing up her wasn't easy either. Tucker was still standing and smiling. I had to stand too, proud and tall.
"What about the pilots captain, is it true that there is another pilot instead of the monsters?"

Wednesday Snippet 239: Blue Angel

Welcome to a new part of Blue Angel unedited, we start right where we left off last time.

Isakael wasn't in the mood to cheer Ezechiel up. He looked at the picture of Jezabel, she was about his age. She had been here all her life. He wondered what could have made her run away. She didn't know anything else, in the demon world, in the human world, she was vulnerable and alone that didn't make any sense. Any angel believing in the conceal would have come to ask them for help in the first place. Did this innocent face really made a pact with the devil or was there something else going on? Why did the conceal chose this topic instead of caring about the disappearance of angels in the demon world. Isakael wondered how many of them had lost their souls and there life. Going into an angel hunt seemed to be a distraction and the smile on Ezechiel's face has he listened to the crowed going against Jezabel almost made him think that he was behind something bigger.
Isakael was impatient to get back home, he had an angel to find before anyone could put their hands on her and he was going to be needing demon's help for that.

It was heaven, it was supposed to be the place where all soul came after their death to either life happily forever if they choose to or rest until their time came to be reborn but in this part of Heaven where the angels reside, it was not like this. The shouting scared Isakael more and he would have liked to admit. He knew that if something happened to him here, nobody would come look for him, nobody would ever want to believe that the angels could be bad. It was a really strange thing at home. On one side there was himself, the angel and people demanded perfection and extreme kindness and wise advices from him. On the other side there was Sahel, a demon and even after a lot of comflict when he first appeared, they decided that he could choose if he wanted to be good or evil. In a way human seemed to believe that if you are making the choice consciously, you will always choose to do the right thing. But that was far from reality. There was always, everywhere, people who decided in the entire possession of their mental ability to do the wrong thing and inside of the Angel community, things were not different.
Isakael wanted to go home but the meeting was far from being over.
