Mystery Monday 212: Murder at the Conference 109

Hello mystery lovers and welcome to a new Mystery Monday.
I hope you had a great week-end. Here is a new little part of Murder at the Conference. Murder at the Conference is a stand alone sequel to Harajuku Kiss.

We start right were we left off last week:

“And you need to change yours.”

“I'm not the one with the murderous boyfriend, the panic attacks, unhappy about the way I look and a workaholic problem leading me nowhere.”

“No, you are the on with a comparing problem.”

“I'm not comparing anything.”

“Remember when I came to the lab with this dress the first time?” I asked pointing at my summer dress. “I was so happy. I had been to the store with a friend and we had both bought new summer dresses together and I felt good and beautiful and happy. You told me that my dress was not proper, that anything above knee length shouldn't be worn at the university, even thought there is no dressing code saying anything like that. You told me that the fabric was really cheap, that after a few wash it would be see through. Then the next day you came to the lab wearing a summer dress too, and you turned on yourself to show of to me and told me that this was the proper way to wear this type of dress. That yours was going to last all summer.”

“I was just trying to help, nothing wrong with that!”

Mystery Monday 211: Murder at the Conference 108

Hello mystery lovers and welcome to a new Mystery Monday.
I hope you had a great week-end. Here is a new little part of Murder at the Conference. Murder at the Conference is a stand alone sequel to Harajuku Kiss.

We start right were we left off last week:

“You know, you're lucky, I'm happy enough with my life, because it's people like you who are making fat kids become anorexic and kill themselves.”

“For telling the truth?”

“You weren't telling the truth, you were being plain mean to me and trying to hurt my feelings on purpose.”

“Then why are you even talking to me in the first place if you don't like what I have to say?”

“I was just trying to help you, god, all I'm doing is trying to help you so that your life is not so pathetic and miserable.”

“It never occurred to you that I don't want your help, that I don't need your help, that I never asked for it?”

“You can't even see your own problems, that's why I need to help.”

“And you are not qualified, Christa. You never listen to what I have to say, you disrespect me on a daily basis.”

“I never disrespected you, you did when you call me fat.”

“Because telling me that I'm the kind of person who pushes people to kill themselves was really nice and tactful and especially helpful.”

“You need to change your attitude,” she pushed her hair away from her shoulder, exasperated.

Mystery Monday 210: Murder at the Conference 107

Hello mystery lovers and welcome to a new Mystery Monday.
I hope you had a great week-end. Here is a new little part of Murder at the Conference. Murder at the Conference is a stand alone sequel to Harajuku Kiss.

We start right were we left off last week:

The plane was delayed one hour. I was happy to have eaten lunch and not to have waited to get food after landing.

I waited until most people were done queuing to go and board the plane. I didn't see the point of rushing at the first call it's not like it was place restricted, we all had a ticket and a booked seat, nobody was going to steal mine.

Christa was already sitting at the easel when I arrived and she stood up to let me pass and go to the window. I looked outside as the crew was finishing to bring the baggage in. I even saw my bag. I was always a bit worried about my luggage so this was good. At least I knew for sure it had boarded the plane at the same time as me. My poster carrier was above my head in the compartment the air hostess had just closed. My smaller bag with personal effects I couldn't check in because I couldn't bear to lose, was under the seat in front of me. All was for the best. In few hours, we would land in China. It would probably be night time when we arrived so I would have to figure out how to get to the hotel. It was a bit scary thinking about it. I didn't know how to get there. I hadn't found any website that I could read about buses or trains.

Mystery Monday 209: Murder at the Conference 106

Hello mystery lovers and welcome to a new Mystery Monday.
I hope you had a great week-end. Here is a new little part of Murder at the Conference. Murder at the Conference is a stand alone sequel to Harajuku Kiss.

We start right were we left off last week:

“But latex isn't for geeks any scientist has to know it, it's the only way to write something properly.”

“I know that, but she is using some sort of boxes program for her paper and it works.”

“What I mean is, you can't let her put you down for having skills that she doesn't have, you have to fence for yourself.”

“But if I answer anything, it goes on and on and on because she has her own way which is supposed to be best and she doesn't listen to any argument I might have.”

“She doesn't have to listen but you don't have to listen either.”

“Today, I told her the conversation was over, she kept on talking so I put on my earphones,” I said.

He kissed me on the forehead again. Seeing his size and mine, that was the easier place to reach.

“Good girl, don't let her put you down. Somehow that might be associated with your stress level.”

With my panic attack this morning and yes, possibly with my stress level too. I should probably be writing a diary about everything she said to see how it affected me and my self-esteem.

Mystery Monday 208: Murder at the Conference 105

Hello mystery lovers and welcome to a new Mystery Monday.
I hope you had a great week-end. Here is a new little part of Murder at the Conference. Murder at the Conference is a stand alone sequel to Harajuku Kiss.

We start right were we left off last week:

“Which part?”

“That you are bad at dealing with people. I think it's just that you have a Christa problem. Is there anything else that you have that she doesn't? Like this latex poster skill and that she tries to diminish every single time?”

I thought for a while. There was the boyfriend issue, before she had one, I was never good enough for mine and there was the way I looked too, how it was weird how boys behaved with me. There was my work that day, how she had said that I pretended to work only to look good but wasn't really all that good. There were a lot of little things, every single day since I met her, and it had become worse since she was dating my ex.

“Yes, most things I do or say displease her and she is very loud about it.”

“On a daily basis?”

“On an hourly basis.” I said.

He laughed and then stopped suddenly.

“And what do you say to her?”

“Mostly nothing.”

“You never tell her to fuck off or cut the crap?”

“No, mostly I just let her talk and give minimal answer until she is done.”

Mystery Monday 207: Murder at the Conference 104

Hello mystery lovers and welcome to a new Mystery Monday.
I hope you had a great week-end. Here is a new little part of Murder at the Conference. Murder at the Conference is a stand alone sequel to Harajuku Kiss.

We start right were we left off last week:

“See, there is a flaw in the lid. It doesn't stay closed completely so she said I was going to lose her poster.”

“But that means you'll lose yours too, that doesn't make sense.”

“Well, apparently, it was my way to try and sabotage her, because her poster looks a lot more professional than mine.”

“I think yours looks good.”

“I made it with latex, so I could fix every part of it to the millimeter.”

“Damn, I was forced to do that for my bachelor degree, it was horrible.”

“It's hard work but once you know how it works it's ok, I guess.”

“So I take she didn't use latex,” Seiji said.

“No, of course she used powerpoint and that's better because our supervisor use it and everybody else too, latex is apparently something only used by geek who can't get around doing anything else than programming so they have to program on posters too.”

“I have to apologize for what I said last night.”

Mystery Monday 206: Murder at the Conference 103

Hello mystery lovers and welcome to a new Mystery Monday.
I hope you had a great week-end. Here is a new little part of Murder at the Conference. Murder at the Conference is a stand alone sequel to Harajuku Kiss.

We start right were we left off last week:

“All the poster are going to be white, except mine, guess where people's eyes are going to land first when they enter the room.”

He laughed.

“I see.”

“I'm doing theory, we are the minority so we need little tricks to make people notice us,” I said.

“And this will work?”

“It works, it's a proven method, I get more hit than anyone every single time.”

“Really?”

“Well, it helps that I dry myself out by never leaving my poster for a second, not even for a drink.” I said laughing.

“Which one is Christa's?”

“She didn't want to give hers to me to carry because my poster carrier is not good enough for her,” I said.

“What?”

I closed the tube and pulled on the string a little to the right and it reopened itself right back.

Mystery Monday 205: Murder at the Conference 102

Hello mystery lovers and welcome to a new Mystery Monday.
I hope you had a great week-end. Here is a new little part of Murder at the Conference. Murder at the Conference is a stand alone sequel to Harajuku Kiss.

We start right were we left off last week:

“I'm celebrating the fact that everyone can marry who they love no matter what sex they are. And yes I'm still a feminist but I will promote “equality” not female supremacy.”

For me, there is a really thin line between the good fight and going overboard, you can't promote anything positive by alienating the population that doesn't fit in your boxes. Same went for the fat acceptance movement, it took a bad turn. It went from love yourself to everyone should want to fuck you and you shouldn't try to improve. Unacceptable.

I was sorry for hurting her feelings but I recently realized that it was something she was doing to me on a daily bases and Seiji made me realise that.

The day I printed my poster, I came back with the student and my supervisor's posters in the tube and Seiji asked to see mine which was something he rarely did so I was a bit ecstatic about it. I guess me talking about the paper and then the poster for weeks had tickled his curiosity. So I showed him. We took the three posters out and I unrolled mine and he looked at it from top to bottom, a bit like my supervisor had done and then hugged me and kiss me on the forehead.

“Good job,” he said. “I'm not sure about the colors but the content is good.”

Mystery Monday 204: Murder at the Conference 101

Hello mystery lovers and welcome to a new Mystery Monday.
I hope you had a great week-end. Here is a new little part of Murder at the Conference. Murder at the Conference is a stand alone sequel to Harajuku Kiss.

We start right were we left off last week:

She stood up and walked away. It was the first time that I had managed to shut her up and a part of me felt good about it even if another part of me felt bad for being so mean. But there was still a sort of feeling of fulfillment coming from telling the truth.

Christa was happy at my weight gain and she had been criticizing my diet every time she had seen me eat. If she hadn't taken it on Seiji first, I might have taken it on myself again and let it slide as a Christa thing. But the anger was still inside of me. I was angry when I wasn't afraid and when I was angry, I couldn't really help what I was saying. It was what I called my warrior mode. A way to be in which I would take anyone down after their first attack. Christa was following every American political movement. The body acceptance movement, the feminist movement and she wanted me in, she sent me link to videos and told me how important it was and somehow I always started with the feeling that it was awesome and then I kept on learning and I saw the glaring inconsistencies and pitfalls and I looked further and further and I quit.

“Why are you putting a rainbow flag on your facebook profile picture but not tweeting anything for the feminists anymore?” she had asked one day.

Mystery Monday 203: Murder at the Conference 100

Hello mystery lovers and welcome to a new Mystery Monday.
I hope you had a great week-end. Here is a new little part of Murder at the Conference. Murder at the Conference is a stand alone sequel to Harajuku Kiss.

We start right were we left off last week:

“Everybody has to eat,” Christa said. “You can't go around and tell people they are fat and disgusting because they just feed themselves.”

“They don't feed themselves, Christa, they overfeed themselves. See, my weight gain was due to over feeding and binging to stuff down feelings that I didn't know how to deal with in an healthy manner. That's why it's not acceptable. Being overweight is a problem, it means that something is wrong with you on a level you might or not be aware of. So I take responsibility for my weight gain.”

“You're such a bitch,” she answered. “A fucking skinny bitch pretending she knows what bigger people feel like because she took on ten pounds.”

“You want me to be a bitch, well, here is the simple truth: You're fat. That's the way people see you when they look at you. Sorry, nobody sees your eyes or your cute face first. Now deal with it, accept it, or do the job to lose weight but it's on you. It's not on me and not on other people around to change the way they unconsciously perceive the world and you just because you have a weight related self-esteem problem.”
