WeWriWar 155: Rainbow Catcher

Welcome to a new excerpt of Rainbow Catcher for the Weekend Writing Warrior and Snippet Sunday

Now let's go back to our story.

Summary of previous episodes: Clarissa is coughing and wanted to watch Everett Cooper on TV but Jason refused, she is due to get her rainbow the next day but she seems scared, to make her feel better Jason leave the TV on. Clarissa tried to explain about rainbows, she is a big fan of Everett Cooper but Jason is not too sure about it. Clarissa complained about her dialophone but Jason needs to go to work. Before completely leaving he is thinking about getting her her rainbow. We flashed back to the meeting Jason had with a rainbow seller at the black market. Jason left Clarissa's room to go to work. Jason was talking to his boss about the rainbow coming the next day. Jason prepared the money for the rainbow in a sport bag and went to the hospital. The rainbow seller arrived for the delivery.

We start just where we left off last week.

Clarissa looked at the dialophone totally unconvinced.
“I’ll ask Markus, I think he will know better.”
“I can promise you he will not try all the words in the language,” Jason said.
“Maybe,” Clarissa answered yawning.
“Are you tired?” Jason asked. Clarissa nodded but she was still full of questions.
“How are you going to go to the desert?”

  3. I wonder if he has the answer to that, considering that this is Plan B.

  4. I wondered why she kept persisting, then i read Teresa's comment ... that'd make sense.

  5. Sounds like she's going to get all those questions out no matter how tired she is. Great snippet!

  6. I think Teresa's right, and he seems as if he's really getting impatient with her persistence. Or maybe that's just a brother thing. ;-)

  7. Ooh, Teresa made a good point I hadn't thought about - it does seem like she's trying to delay him. Interesting.

  8. To me it seems that she finally reached a point where she is just not interested (yawning)

  9. Interesting... seems like she's going to have to be convinced to continue to go along with this.

  10. So many questions. Interesting that he must travel to the desert to find a rainbow. I'm curious about that. Does she want him to go? Does she fear for him if he does?

  11. Oh, I sure hope the desert travel involves more technology

  12. She doesn't seem as enthusiastic as she might be; or is she a little scared?

  13. Information overload, I think. She's too tired to care. :D

  15. How much does a rainbow cost, I wonder? And what will she do with it? Lots of great story questions come to mind as I read your snippets.

  18. I'm starting to think a lot like the others, she seems to be stalling him from leaving. I think she's afraid of maybe dying alone while he's off trying to find a desperate save for her.
