WeWriWar 106: Rainbow Catcher

Welcome to a new excerpt of Rainbow Catcher for the Weekend Writing Warrior and Snippet Sunday

I'm trying to get Rainbow Catcher ready and if everything goes as planed it should be published at the end of June, so exciting!

I'm also working on the cover so you might see some changes soon.

Summary of previous episodes: Clarissa is coughing and wanted to watch Everett Cooper on TV but Jason refused, she is due to get her rainbow the next day but she seems scared, to make her feel better Jason leave the TV on. Clarissa tried to explain about rainbows, she is a big fan of Everett Cooper but Jason is not too sure about it.

Now let's go back to business. We start just where we left off last week.
Everett Cooper was her hero. She couldn’t stop talking about him and was convinced that he would, someday, arrive in her room with her purple rainbow.

Jason was more pragmatic and didn’t believe in such fairy tales. For him, guys like Everett Cooper didn’t care about people like them. He caught the rainbows and gave them to the best buyers, just for money. That, kids died in the hospital waiting for their cure, wasn’t his problem, as long as he could smile at the camera. Jason had tried to explain it to Clarissa many times, but he didn’t have the strength anymore. It had been fun, when she would jump on him to try to make him eat his words angrily, and they would end up laughing, tickling each other. But now, she just sighed and stared at the TV as if it was her last hope. The sight of it was purely unbearable.

  1. Oh! *shudders* the pain in both of them... I take back all my horrific ideas about Cooper. I want him to be a good guy, a VERY good guy.

  7. Loved todays snippet. His thoughts, the emotions ... but sometimes one has to hold on to dreams to make it through the day.
