Summary of the previous episodes: Viorel has been tortured by his supposed family who wanted to have him burn in the sun. Strangely enough the sun didn't burn him as expected but Viorel has no memory of who he is. Following the advices of his supposed father, he left Sighișoara and is now traveling to the West. After some skirmish in a previous city, he found refuge on a boat. Viorel is now in Vienna.

Now, let's continue with Vampire Heart, right where we left of last week.

Vienna was a great city, full of music. On the first night of our arrival, I resisted the rush of running away from it. I shouldn’t have. I wanted to go as far away of the lady as possible but her tears when I said I was leaving were hard to take. She must have liked me quite a bit. But that wasn’t the only reason I felt like leaving the city without exploring it. I left the danger. When I looked at it, so beautiful I couldn’t help thinking that something there was hiding in the darkness was not meant for a place like that. And I was right, after my stay in Vienna, I promised myself I would never fight my instincts again, even though I didn’t know where that was coming from. I left the boat one day after the arrival to move to an inn for few days, since Budapest adventure I was very careful about my belongings in the middle of strangers. My room was extremely tidy, I was always carrying my precious things with me, the sword, the money spread in several pockets, the letter from my father and the notebook. Not that I really had anything interesting in the latest, more that it was all I had. What I couldn’t carry all the time was hided under a hole in the wooden floor behind one of the bed’s leg. I took me a while to find a place like that, so I was sure nobody was going to find it anytime soon. I had taken interest in drawing since my stay on the boat and the numerous palaces of Vienna were a good way to practice. It was also a way for me to visit the city looking for an easy way to get blood. I was sure that drinking some would bring back the dreams and also some part of my memory. During the evening I was going to draw until night fall waiting for someone to be left alone near me, but that didn’t happen. I was always reticent with saying out during the night, I was always worried that some vampires of my clan would have found me and would come for me anytime. I didn’t feel good enough to fight them, they were a lot stronger than humans and I remembered that they got me once.

That night when I came back to the inn it was extremely quiet, a lot more than usual. The feeling I had on the day of my arrival and that had started to vanish again came back to me but once again, I pushed it away. I ordered a meal but never finished it. Some drugs had been added to it. On the boat I had lost my habit of smelling my food and that was highly regrettable, after few intakes, I started to fall asleep. When I finally woke up, I was attached on a chair in the basement of the inn and the owner was looking at me. I seriously didn’t expect that coming from him, he had seemed to me to be friendly all along, that made me remember an advice I heard long long ago: “Be careful with people who are too nice with you, they are most likely to hide something, they are expecting something from you.” I gave up on trying to remember where that was coming from, just wishing that I had remember the advice itself earlier because apparently, this guy was expecting something from me.
