Hump Day Hook 7: Attic Mirror

It's Wednesday Hump Day Hook again. Find the other writers here.
If you miss my other hooks, there are here but don't worry, I'm posting them randomly so they seem unrelated... maybe.

We are going back to Attic Mirror, Hitomi is visiting an old mine looking for an entrance to Teneria but things aren't quite as good as her optimistic mind expected.

Nothing. She looked down disappointed, and it seemed that something was shining on the floor. She knelt down and brushed the surface of the ground with her flash light. The characters were there. It was a miracle. They resembled what they had already found on both sides of the mirror. She took her notebook out of her bag and started to write them down. She verified them twice and had another closer look around, pulping the walls to see if there wasn't an entrance for Teneria. Her heart was beating fast in her chest. Teneria seemed to be so close suddenly. She looked few times at every wall before realizing that there was actually no door. She started to go back but stopped and turned around to take some of the earth of the mine in a little bag. It was maybe stupid, but having Ethan and Viorel always talking about taking samples of everything they saw, was reminding her that if there was some magic going on around this place, the earth and stones should know about it. She put everything in her bag and started to walk back a bit faster than when she came in. She was feeling the same difficulty to breath than with her class excursion few year ago and it wasn't her favourite feeling especially as she was all alone in the mine now. It wasn’t a good time to faint.

  1. Hmm, she must be brave going down a mine on her own! Or is there something about her that we don't know? Good hook!

  2. I think there are many things about her that you don't know but she doesn't really have a choice about going there either.

  3. I can sympathise with how she feels. Small tunnels and spaces give me the creeps, as well. Nice hook :)

  7. She is much braver than me...I would never go into a mine alone. Will she make it out? Nice hook, well done.
