Speed Racer

En français
Speed Racer is a movie from the Wachowski brothers adapted from the Japanese manga "マッハGoGoGo, Mahha GōGōGō". The hero, Speed, is played by Emile Hirsch and his girl friend , Trixie by Christine Ricci. There also two my favorite actors in it, Mattew Fox playing Racer X and 비 playing a Japanese car driver. The story is totally unrealistic, according to the scenery the action takes place in the sixties, the decor is completely kitsch but the cars and the buildings look more futuristic.
I like the way races are filmed it is very unusual the cars are turning all the time and seems to never go strait which gives a really good impression of speed. I also like the fact that the car aren't only for racing but also for a kind of fight during the races.
What's also great is that the nasty guys are really nasty and that for become ridiculous.
This movie is also very funny, especially due to Speed little brother Spritle and his chimpanzee Chim Chim who only thinks about eating sweets and are very good kung-fu fighters like everybody else around them.
That's a first time 비 was in an American movie and also the main reason why I went to see it.
He was great even if it was strange for me to heart him speak English as I'm use to see him only in Korean movies. I really enjoy this movie but Sébastien didn't.

  1. The Wachowski bros certainly put a lot of effort into making Speed Racer... the movie overall looked and felt like a cross between anime, a kaleidoscope, that Flintstones movie, a video game and the Dukes of Hazard
